Good thing I don't have a big pick-up truck like yours, otherwise I'd be ramming those pests all the time.

I slog the hippy autobahn (I5 between Seattle and Portland) 3 times a month... left lane blocking prius is a way of life for me

I take a couple deep breaths and say my new mantra "must get along to go along"...

same mantra sort of works when I think about our new Seattle mayor

possibly we need to start a "prius screwing up traffic flow" thread... although I am not sure 6speed bandwidth could handle it all :-)

To 6speed prius drivers -- do you drive slowly in town to keep it on the electric juice and keep your MPG high? I have not driven one, but I assume that there are indicators on the dash showing that your driving style is "green" if you lay off it and "bad" if you actually go the speed limit or higher?

Prius driver in Magnolia... one lives directly behind me and she is totally nucking futs... not because she has a prius... but just generally nucking futs... could have been her having a manic moment...

I admit that I rented one (not on purpose) on a business trip a while back. I admit to driving like a dufus just because I wanted to see how the car worked. It seemed cool moving in electric only mode and seeing how I could avoid triggering the gas engine. Of course that novelty lasted all of 20 minutes but I'm sure I pissed a few drivers off.

"There is also some question as to exactly how "green" a Prius is. At least one "dust to dust" analysis of energy consumption in its entire life cycle -- a cycle that includes the mining and transport of the battery zinc -- suggests the Prius may actually leave a bigger carbon footprint than (are you ready?) a Hummer. "

That story is old news... Still relevant, but I suspect many a Prius owner bought it to relieve the anguish at the gas pump, or to be "holier that thou" and not because they ACTUALLY gave a damn about the enviroment. Just wanting to make it look like they cared...

I always get a funny look after I tell someone why I bought my hybrid when they ask. I wanted the fastest RX they made and the one that handles the best...I guess I just kind of was forced to accept it getting better gas mileage and polluting less.

This is all pretty funny. I have just scanned a few different pages of threads here. So about 2 weeks ago, I was up in Seattle to test/inspect a heavily modded 996TT that I was thinking of buying (waiting for transport to deliver in 3 days) Current owner and I were driving. It was a test drive, therefore, needed to be tested! But nothing crazy. Of course, we accelerated quickly numerous times. Then on the floating bridge, we of course did 50-100 MPH or so quickly. Few minutes later, we are at a stop light and someone is incessently honking behind us. Its a PRIUS. Guy I was with had to explain the whole Prius ***** thing to me. Im in small oilfield town and am ignorant to the whole Prius lifestyle. Just very funny for me to have my experience that day, and then read some of this
