We went to see "The Wrestler" on Saturday night. We noticed it was playing in Gig Harbor, & deiced to go. We are welcomed to a new beautiful cinema. Then we get the tickets, $30 for 2!!! Then I say $30, he said yea, $30, it's the VIP cinema. They say the seats are big & wide love seat style, recline, & plenty of leg room. Ok, cool, we go in, Oh, what is this? We can drink BEER!! They bring the food to your seats! Best of all the picture & sound are AWESOME! It's the new DLP projector, so just like home, just really, really big.
They don't have the best beer, but they are only $5.50 each, & best of all Sarah, loved it, & we will be going back.

The Gold Class Cinemas in Redmond Town Center is AMAZING ! You are like flying First class, there is a service button to push at your own seat, the food and drinks are amazing too ! It is also a great dining experience and I love their dessert ! The ticket is around $30, but I think it is worth it ! Especially when you are on a date !

I just go to David_J's for movie night where he has 6 reclining chairs, blue ray, and projection. Best part is cost is $0.00 and when I need to hit the head I tell him to hit pause. I do not even need to leave the room to get another beer or popcorn he has a fridge and Popcorn machine next to him. I just wish he would buy the twizlers brand instead of redvines from Costco.
Cheap Bastard!

Why spend $35 per ticket when I can do it for $0.00 at home too. Josh, you're welcome to come over anytime and I'll even be sure to get the Twizzler brand for you. I just don't have a real popcorn machine (yet).
My dad went to the one in RTC and said it wasn't worth it.

Actually I love the orange ones too. It's the yellow and white ones I hate.

It's my favorite theater.
You never mentioned that you didn't like the Red Vines. And yes, I am a cheap bastard.

I saw Grand Trino at Gold Coast. It was amazing. I am a huge movie buff and I have designed and sold Home Theaters for many years (all most as long as it has been since Sam Runco trade marked the term Home Theater). Going to the theaters has been a huge disappointment since THX has stopped authorizing theaters and has just been selling their name. It used to mean something to go to a THX theater, but it hasn't meant anything for almost 20+ years.
A number of years ago McMenamins bought a few old theaters and turned them into theaters with pubs, you could get good beer and pizza and other pub grub. I thought it was a great idea but they missed the mark by not upgrading the AV or the seating. They just took out every other row of seats and installed long bar style tables.
I think if Gold Coast did this concept 5 years ago it would have been a huge hit. In today's economy I don't think it will make it. With streaming media coming on strong right now and home theaters getting better and cheaper the Cinemas really need to rethink their models to stay alive. It will not be long before you will be able to stream a first run movie into your home for $30. You will be able to watch it just like a DVD but only for 24 hours then it dies. I for one would love to watch a first run movie at home in full digital HD. The cinemas can't keep the image fresh with film, 2 days after it is released you see hair on the film, stretch marks and so on. Not to mention all the other negs we all talk about when comparing the experience to watching a movie at home (sticky floors, loud people, awful chairs)
It was a great experience to go to Gold Coast and watch a movie from a digital source with a good beer in my hand. Was it worth $70 for two tickets and another $30 on drinks? YES! I will go to a Indian casino and drop $400-500 breathing someone else’s smoke and drinking watered down drinks and have a good time, why not spend a few extra $'s on a movie and really enjoy the experience?

I wish I only paid $3000. That would have been nice
