Sendero: Last years R8 registry (But, I believe it's been taken down) showed a slightly higher percentage of R-tronics to Manuals. 55%:45%

Pricing: Our R-tronic fully loaded was $136K add $40K for the V10 and it's close to $180K. I heard from another forum, probably BS, that there will be huge "market adjustments" of $45K. I guess we'll just have to wait and see what they come in at, but I hear very few allocations at dealerships.

The two King County dealerships are still not publicly saying what this car will be priced at for sure, although one of the sales guys at University says that we should not be surprised to see the US pricing below the Euro equivalent, as their US pricing for their cars never translates to Euro pricing. He has held that the car will be in the 140 - 160 range, because any higher would infringe on their Lambos and they don't want to do that. This would be pleasantly surprising for this current V8 owner.

At $180k plus a $45k markup, you would be paying more for an R8 than the base price for an LP560-4 ( $201,000 ). No offense to R8 drivers but that would be an easy decision for me. In my opinion the R8 performs amazingly but it looks too similar to the V8 R8. Also I don't know how Lamborghini managed this one. Well I do know its there amazing thrust mode coupled with lighter weight and more power. The LP-560 takes huge chunks out of the R8 while being lighter weight and having better handling. 6/10ths to 60 mph 9/10ths in the 1/4 mile and the 10 mph difference at the end are not inconsiderable. Plus again no offense but does it really get any better than Lamborghini ownership?

Good point, but I'm not so sure even $180K would infringe on a LP560 price of $240K. I hope I'm wrong though! What are your thoughts on trade in prices of the V8, when the V10's come in? I'm thinking bad, if the V10 comes in at $140-160K.

I'm a little off, from what I saw in the Market place I only saw LP560's priced at 240K, but at 201K that's an issue!

It sounds like from anyone I have spoken with about the V10 that anyone that is lucky to be first in the queue for one likely won't be getting it until 2010 anyway. But who knows. Either way, my feeling is that the dealers will play the "poor economy and market" card when you finally show up to trade in a V8 for a V10, and offer $80 - 90K.

$201k is the base price, most cars are optioned closer to $230k-$240k. But in reality if I can pay $225,000 including markup then I can afford $240k. And you guys are right, when you go to Audi to trade in your V8 they are going to offer you next to nothing for it. Audi was smart with the R8 they sold most people who wanted one a V8. When demand started to slip they roll out the V-10, I am a little annoyed at the performance disparity. But of course I figured that Lambo wasn't going to let the R8 be close in performance.

Here was the post from AW... I guess the 45K was not market adustment but the premium released by AofA.

In reaction to overwhelming customer and press interest in the new Audi R8 5.2 FSI (V10) model that made its U.S. debut last month at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, last week Audi of America announced to its dealer body the availability of the new R8 V10 for dealer ordering. The positive response and increased interest in the R8 model from dealers and customers following the release of the Order Guide has been consistent with our experience at the time of the original introduction of the V8 model. We would like to inform you of the latest developments regarding the expansion of the R8 model line-up.

R8 4.2 FSI (V8)
Worldwide demand for the R8 V8 model remains very strong, resulting in continued constraints in factory production due to the hand assembly required for each vehicle. The implications of this strong demand and significant order bank is that the factory cannot commence the ramp-up of V10 production as rapidly as anticipated in order to produce more V8 models to satisfy existing customer orders.

R8 5.2 FSI (V10)
U.S. production of dealer orderable R8 V10 models will begin as Model Year 2010. Pricing is not yet firm for the R8 V10; however, it is expected the price differential compared to the V8 model will be approximately $45,000 for a typical fully equipped car. Deliveries of the first V10 models are anticipated to be subject to a lead time of 8-10 months from now, related to factory capacity.

Action Requested
To enable Audi of America to secure each highly sought after R8 V8 and V10 production position that becomes available, dealers are requested to enter their orders for each model as soon as possible so that sufficient parts and engines can be secured for U.S. production, and lead times for made-to-order vehicles are minimized.

Audi of America understands the challenges dealers face in being able to satisfy your customers' wishes with these unique models. We hope this brief update is helpful information for you and your customers.

On the V-10 they will be charging a markup over sticker, how much I don't know.

Oh great, first Iron Man, now this. I don't need any more little handprints on my car than I already get.
