The 2010 Chevy Camaro

Mark, give us a good update on what you think about it. You should have over 500mi on it by now. FYI, I drove an '08 Z06 last week and was left with a weird feeling about it. Yes, its fast as hell and smooth but the raw feeling like my C5Z has been engineered out. It does not communicate back to you through the steering wheel and the butt meter. It's a GT now which is not what I want. There are too many electronic gadgets for my tastes too. Guess I will keep mine afterall.

When I was test driving the 996TT I ultimately purchased, I compared it to a 2007 Z06 on the same day. As I formerly owned an immaculate 2004 Z06, I thought that the 2007 would be ahead of it in every possible way. Well, I also thought that the C6 Z06 wasn't a step forward in every single way compared to the C5 Z06. It was an obscenely fast car for sure, but I ultimately didn't like the feel of the steering or the materials used in the interior. The interior looked great, but felt crummy...that's the best way I can describe it. A far cry from what I was hoping that GM could finally achieve...and I think the only way to get a high quality interior out of them might be with the 3LZ leather interior upgrade available on the 08+ cars.

So it's almost exactly like I thought it would be.
First off it's only 38k so I wasn't expecting a Lexus inside with a Porsche engine
It's much more comfortable and finished then I thought it would be. Corvettes have always had a plastic feel inside and this doesn't really feel that way. This feels good. All of the controls are easy to reach and use. The Radio is so very cool...a digital version of the old am radios. I think that the concaved steering wheel looks good but is a bit too concaved for high speed comfort. It feels good cruising (which is why I bought this car) down I5.
The suspension is exactly what I thought it would be. Soft and not so fast to respond in the corners. Remember I didn't buy it for tracking I'm most likely lowering this car if they have a good system and will change this suspension out I think.. We'll see
The engine on the otherhand is way different then expected. I figured soft throttle with little response with a 3800lb weight I wasn't expecting much. I was wrong. The 426hp gets this car moving pretty darn good. It's not my Turbo'd Mini Cooper but I believe the book says 4.5 seconds to 60. I can see that. It's got a nice punch. Really WAY more then I could ever have expected. I will be modding this horsepower once someone comes up with a good chip or horsepower gaining device. What can I say I do want a little more power. The exhaust note is a tad quiet but that will change with the exhaust mod I'm looking into.
The wheels are the thing that need to be changed first. The RS/SS version comes with what I thought would be a darkened silver 19" but they are much lighter color then I thought they would be. So I'm looking hard for new shoes right now. I'm limited to a multi piece wheel by about 3 manufacturers. So I'm not so excited right now. Only about 40 choices..4 or so good.
I am still waiting for the factory ground effects package to get installed. It came in sort of a dark gray/brown/black looking thing and I already have that at a painter to match the gloss black exterior of the car before Chevy installs it.
bottom line I really like this car. it's really big for parking and has such a big nose i'm not quit used to it yet. but that will be something i work out later. i don't plan on lots of miles for this thing but i can see lots of rainy days this winter hopping in this before my 2500 crew cab pickup...
two thumbs up on my end. i hope others join me in the nw section in owning one.

This car is fast and fun. I haven't really kept up on the literature that came out before this car was released nor am I an advid american car guy, but this car impressed me. The interior looked fine despite all the negative comments, the seats were super comfortable (coming from an elise owner), and torque oh my goodness the torque (once again coming from an elise owner). The car seemed to do well for its size and weight oh the few corners, but it wasn't pushed that hard as it was wet and the driver wasn't Mark. I was almost scared when we hit a few straight aways and got in the triple digits while I was welded to the seat. The sound, while not intoxicating like a ferrari, was still quite nice with the current exhaust system. This is a great car for guys/gals that have significant others that like to peak at the speedo and nag. From the passenger seat I could barely see the tach and once over 30 I couldn't really see the speedo but I was able to see the blury yellow lines on the road. Very cool car Mark

I will take you for a ride in my car, its quite a bit more urgent in its response to the throttle....
When he lets that beast exhale with the right exhaust it will almost sound exotic at high rpm. My car doesn't even sound like a V8 above 6,000 rpm.
Maybe the Camaro is the car that will finish what the Corvette started which is getting accepted in all countries as a great performance bargain.
