Red light camera ticket... ;(

Managed to get a Red Light camera ticket. Proof of the world we live in. Wet conditions made it impractical to stop on the downhill leading to five corners (by the University Village). $124. Doesn't go on the driving record. Thought about fighting it, but I'm guessing they picked the price point for a reason. Looks to be cheaper than contesting it.

But hey, now I can break out Judas Priest while I'm driving the Prius. Yes, I managed to get a ticket in a Prius. It can be done.

First i injured Marks neck given the supreme power available and now, I'm wanted by the po po for a red light infraction. Someone please stop me. Who knows where the madness will end? Maybe Southcenter mall for cookies?

There are forms online (municipal court for area of ticket) on how to contest these. Request a copy of the picture (because 9 out of 10) cannot make the driver out. Then go to court and contest. It will get dropped. My wife was a paralegal for a local prosecutor so I know. They laugh at how much money they make because people generally do not contest. The ones that do (and they are few) are usually dropped.

At first glance I figured you were sitting at a red light in ye old Prius. Bingo Bango Bongo the light turns green and by the time you got to the other side of the intersection.....bingo bango bongo.....Red Light Ticket.

but heck that was just at first glance

I got one up in Alderwood. The thing that was infuriating is they had changed the timing on the yellow to be unusually aggressive. I wrote every member of city council and told them I wouldn't be shopping up there again. It's been a year and I haven't gone back.

When you go to your prius meets can you please let the others know that the left lane is the passing lane

:-)

5 corners is a government slot machine that pays on 95% of the "pulls"

Only my observation, I see an awful lot of Prius drivers driving way above the freeway speed limit. Doesn't that greatly reduce the effectiveness of the gas savings )))
In the bay area it is PC to own a Prius, but they drive the S*** out of it.
So, instead of 40 mi/gal----maybe 28 mile.
It defeats the purpose, and driving around with a weeny powered engine on top of it.
BTW, I like the Prius, just observations

I5 northbound around Chehalis
Offense: left lane blockage, 60 in a 70 zone... double points for being in a prius and furthering the sterotype, triple points for center and right lane being "available"
Offender: holier than thou environmentalist that will "inflict" their personal policy by blocking left lane
Result: forced reasonable, law abiding driver to make an illegal pass on the right, and got the finger in the process...

Vigilante Photo Enforcement evidence below

I don't care what anyone drives, just get the f*&% out of the fast lane. Is it just me or has it gotten worse around here? People just get on auto pilot, migrate to the far-left lane and set up camp at 60MPH. WTF!! Friends that visit from out of state observe the same thing. Annoying as all get out.

/rant

Trevor, supercharge the Prius and get a BBK on that bad boy. Can't believe you left it stock all this time.

PJ cut that guy some slack. It was raining and his blinkers to change to one of the 2 open lanes on the right most likely wasn't working!
WTF
All day long people in the fast lane going speed limit or below. I just notice Prius's more
Rant 2
The idiots in Car Pool lane going the same speed as the rest of the traffic when it's 20mph below the speed limit posted.
Makes me want to change to republican and buy a gun sometimes

You have a standing open invitiation to return

As mentioned above -- left lane violators of any ilk are bothersome and yes it is getting worse and for the life of me I do not know why the Wash State Revenue Enforcement does not ticket it...

Just think a few of these tickets could pay for Gregoire to fly to Copenhagen to discuss global warming...

Down here in Southern Arnoldfornia, a red light ticket is almost $500 and a point on your record.
