Hopefully will meet you next weekend at Exotics at Redmond Town Center.
So you think if you get pulled over, you can just say, "Dang, I forgot to slap that on.."?? That might be the best idea.

The car already has some sort of clear bra on it... I'm stoked for that.

I will RARELY be able to go to Exotics at Redmond since I have my office open from 10-11 on Sats... and my associate still isn't...well... me.

I hope I don't see too many Nordic Gold cars... this shade of orange was kinda an early to mid 2000's fad.. I don't think Porsche even offers it anymore as a color. Personally I love it!

I need to join PCA.... no doubt about it.

I couldn't resist and drove it around tonight... rain and all. Oh.... and all you P-car guys... I get it now. I never did... I do now.

...and this car is crazy fast. I mean... what? I'm doing 80 in a matter of seconds.. I barely have time to see the damn speed indicator. I can't imagine when I get used to it... but yeah, exhaust, chip, intake... it'll all happen. Already have some CF on order... couldn't resist.

Now... quick question... How do I get those fogs and that little LED light to match the headlights? What's the part #'s, etc etc... I bought Hoen Fogs for my S4 that match the HID better... I need to do the same... or at least get yellow fogs.
My friend, you've just joined the dark side. I absolutely LOVE the rush that one gets when driving the Turbo especially when the overboost hits!

Check out this video of me driving with two other Turbos on Hwy 1
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ArgPweh7A0

Done? Then check out this link for all the LED light needs
LED parking lights (front and sides)

LED license plate light

Stealth turn signal bulbs

More! You want more! Check these videos out for exhaust clips (mine is the cargraphic one)
Exhaust clips

BTW, I can't say if the foglight bulbs from Hoen will work well. I haven't tried it yet. Avoid their non-LED bulbs at all costs. I used their incandescent bulb in my turn signal pod and this happened.

I got a bunch of cool CF trim pieces for mine.

Get this flap from Griot's Garage. Very useful!

This might be overkill..but it's easily one of my favorite mods from TechArt

^^^^ Omg... that video looks like it's sped up!! It almost made me sick! I'm probably too chicken to drive that fast (at least for now!)

Nice CF stuff... yeah, that's the kinda thing I'll be doing. Just little bits here and there, and I'll re-do the steering wheel as well, probably some suede and CF. I ordered some mirror caps and the rear wing in CF... I'll do the side skirts, rear diffuser and some sort of front lip once I make sure I'm happy with the CF quality... I'm a tad scared about wasting too much money on a CF lip since those suckers tend to get blasted, especially when the wifey borrows the car.

Thanks for all the light links, I'll start ordering.

How about the "new LED" driving lights on the 2010 cars? Is that a direct swap into our 997.1's?

I'm doing that LED taillight swap next week. You've got to swap out the bumper too. I'll let you know how it goes. I got my parts from Sunset Porsche. BTW, as a suggestion, DON'T get CF trim pieces outside the car especially the front lip. They're going to get scraped pretty often. I have the GT2 side sills on mine.

And I forgot about this one...definitely well worth it and I love the way Porsche implemented the classic 911 shape into it too

Alcantara on the steering wheel will look nice but it's will wear out in the long term. I saw another that had black marks where the hand rests the most (oil wears it out)

Man, I'm dangerous to you...and sorry my video made you sick. I have another that's not quite as intense taken using my GoPro HD outside from the car.

I used to have CF trim on my steering wheel but it kept cracking from the interior heat causing the inner core to expand. I finally gave up and just got all leather.

I surprised the CF cracked.. I had my NSX steering wrapped in CF/Leather very similar and never had a problem.. Although I didn't have it on there that long I suppose.

I'm assuming the CF I'm getting on the outside has a substantial clear coat, but yeah, good points. I'll figure this out.

The LED tails are attractive, but man... getting a new bumper, plus shooting it in the right color, etc etc.. I'll pass for now. Maybe down the road! What about the driving lights, I heard they did something with the fogs perhaps?

What is the light code for our fogs btw... are they H11 (doubtful) or something else?

Did I mention your interior looks really good? I need to stay away from your car.. I'll start spending too much on mine!

The fogs are H3 bulbs according to this: Fitment guide

The price for the parts wasn't that bad. I paid about $1400 for rear bumper, $200 for exhaust surrounds and $800 for the taillights from Sunset Porsche. $400 to paint it and Motoring Unlimited will be doing the swap next week.

It always happened with the one from TechArt. They hadn't figured out how to prevent it from cracking at the time yet. I went through 4 steering wheels before giving up! It happened whenever I left my car parked out in the hot sun down in California. I'd come back to find that my CF trim cracked.

That's a pretty substantial project. I would love to see how it turns out.

Were you able to get your GT2 side sills painted from the factory, or did you have to have a shop do it. I'm worried about matching my paint since it's a special code, probably has a lot of shades to it...

Yeah, that's not as bad as I thought it would be. That should be pretty cool. I have so many other things I want to do first... but I'll add this to the list.

After all those exhaust clips I think i'll go AWE or Milltek (like my S4)... but yours sounds fantastic. This is kinda like owning a boat or having an ex-wife, isn't it.... just throw money at it and hope it treats you well.

Alright, I need to get out of here, I'm ordering bulbs and parts while I'm talking to you and clicking on links. I told myself I'd wait a few months... sheesh.

Thanks for all your help!!!!!

We should get together and talk about our Turbos. Clearly I have much to teach you!

It's not rocket science getting the color matched. It's quite simple actually especially if the body shop uses the same painting method as Porsche which is the Glasurit painting system. They take the car to the back at Bel-Red Auto Rebuild (which is where I get everything painted) and they use a special color matching tool to copy down multiple color samples. They did this for mine and it matched the color perfectly. No need for code codes, etc. I used to think that they used color codes but that's not an accurate way of measuring the color shade according to Brandon at Bel-Red.

BTW, I had them paint the GT2 side sills. All except the bottom as shown in the picture above.

I have Millteks on my Audi A3 and they do sound fantastic but I loved the cargraphic because it gives the Turbo the classic air cooled sound that it now lacks and OMG OMG OMG it sounds so MEAN when WOT! Sounds like an afterburner jet taking off.

And the MOD sickness has hit you HARD. It hit me hard before I even picked up mine months ago.

Check out my album with pictures of most of the mods I did to mine: 997 Mods

The 997TT does not come with the GT2 side sills. The GT2 does.

Sorry, I meant did your order your GT2 sills from the factory in your 997 color, since I assume they make GT2's in that same color.

Did that make any sense? Well, you cleared up the whole paint thing anyhow, so I'm not as scared anymore. I've used Bell Red Auto before... they are amazing.

I want to hear your exhaust in person for sure... I'd like to hear as many as I can before I make my choice....

... however I do not want to hang out with you... you're going to cost me too much money!

Oh...and you asked about the updated running lights...well, I don't know yet. I'm waiting for someone else to try seeing if the LED foglights fit the pre 2010 Turbos before jumping the gun.
