Well not in Seattle, but this was at Willows Lodge a couple of years ago. It was one of the first weddings I was shooting for the studio. I had the valet park my car. 8 hours later I came out to get my car, exhausted from shooting in mid-90's heat. I wait....wait a little longer.....finally walk out and ask what's with the hold up. They lost my keys!
I waited for close to an hour I'd guess. They were very apologetic at least and gave me a couple of free drinks in the bar while I waited. They had a town car come and pick me up so I did not have to wait any longer. It's about a 20-25 minute drive to my place from Willows Lodge. About 5 minutes from my house, they called me and told me they'd found my keys. They'd fallen off the valet stand and were on the ground behind it . The Town car was back the next morning to pick me up and take me back.
It was a big hassle, but at least they handled it pretty well.

A few years ago I went to the Bellevue Hyatt for an off-site, the valet parked the car right in front of the hotel. From upstairs I could see that he stayed in the car for quite a while, my guess is playing with the Nav and the stereo, it was weird but nothing too horrific.

I usually ask politely "where do you want me to park the car?" and I pay the valet fee + a tip no matter what. Most places will let me to do so, the ones that don't, usually do not see me again. I remember talking to Tommy once about creating a list of Seattle's exotic friendly restaurants...

If there is an open parking lot in front of the restaurant, I just skip the valet and park the car myself. The only time I use them is when I'm somewhere really nice downtown and parking would be a pain.
I hate it when i can see the car out in the lot, but I have to wait a few minutes while the valets go and get other cars ahead of mine... at that point I just want to take the keys and get out of there!

Oh wow, you are exactly the same as I'm; I pay for the valet + tip; most of them are fine with it, since they after your $$$ anyways.

I can't tell you exactly which one, but I witnessed few restaurants along the 2nd Ave in DT Seattle, those valet guys just park their customer cars on the street parking!! No wonder why their bumpers & wheels get damaged!

I cannot bring myself to use valet parking as well, I would have really bad thoughts about what might happen and it would ruin my evening. I have seen some youtube videos of valets abusing cars (real scary!).

funny I will valet most places I go. most restaurants tell me where to park them and I pay the fee and tip as well.
I guess the W doesn't have problems. I've never stayed there but our hotel is booked we typically stay so we will try them out this weekend.
Atomic why will you kill someone? I'm lost?

I am forgetting the name of the bar underneath wild Ginger but even though I warned them of the height of my former D90 hardtop, they managed to hit the roof on something. of course they denied it and I have not used a valet since on anything but my truck.
I will say that the best valets in the NW are at Il Terrazo Carmine near pioneer square... also IMHO the best Italian restaurant in Seattle and Carmine has a black 997 C2S
also Canlis has good valets
