Tires and Wheels 101???

First my wife and i came to our first Exotics @ Redmond and i must say YOU GUYS ROCK!! My question. Is there a place (like the old days) where i can go and phyically go to look at a variety of wheels rather than on line here in the Seattle area?
Can anyone give me personal insight on the following; 19" v 20" wheels and tires, Tire sizes 19" v 20", will the tire fill the wheel well, are there any problems with these sizes. will either of these sizes present problems with pressure sensors.
One last thing, while at E@R i saw a beautiful black 997 with 20" wheels, the owner was preparing a car seat for his young son (who was a tad bit upset over b-day cake) so i didn't want to disturb him, but i really wanted to speak with him. If you are out there i would to know how your car feels and handles with that setup.

IMO, 19's or 20's are way too big. I think you have the 996tt, if so I would stick with 18's. I don't know much about tire sizes, but it depends on if you're going to lower you car in the future or not. If you have 19's or 20's and have huge sidewalls and decide to lower the car, you're going to rub. If you're not going to lower it and want to fill the wheel well, its going to look weird. Speedware has a nice showroom where you can look at wheels. So does Redmond European. There is also a board sponsor that can help you with whatever wheel or tire choose: https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/member.php?u=35987 http://www.wheelsboutique.com/

This one?

I think Speedware Motorsports has a small sample of aftermarket wheels on display. Try Car Nutz in Bellevue too.

I completely disagree with the above on 19" wheels. To each their own. 19's are perfect on the 996TT. I've had 2 996TTs. One with 2 sets of 18's and another 996TT with 2 sets of 19s. They both feel the same to me. Get the 19s if you like looks. Now regarding 20's.. I don't have experience of those on a 996TT and I'm not sure if I'd go that large. So I agree with the above Both 18s and 19s are great. 19s just look better.. but handling is all the same. If your going to track the car and not drive street often, then 18s may be your cup of tea.

You got to ride in both mi amigo.

Good luck

19's are stock on a 997... I think they'd be fine on a 996. Plenty of people running 20's on 997's as well... too much wheel for my taste but I've seen it in person and it looks good.
