Request to sit in cars
The request to sit in cars has gotten way out of hand. We need everyone's help in curtailing this at E@RTC events. I don't think people understand that it's not one person sitting in cars, it's dozens over a short time causing excessive wear relative to miles driven. To quote Honey Badger "It's not a Jungle Gym!" While this seems so obvious and it's traditionally not been a problem, because we're getting more and more spectators, it's starting to become a problem. So, if you have the urge to ask someone to sit in a car, follow this simple rule. Don't.

Not only did I see more requests, but some people were asking to take pictures of them sitting in the car, then close the door and take certain angles, etc. Pretty pushy stuff IMO.

I think I know who you're talking about...he asked me to take a picture of him. Nice kid but...a bit too forward if you ask me.

Tom, I think that having signs reminding people not to do this would help the situation, especially with newcomers. Also, I think that if one of your friends asks to sit in your car it'd be better to say "Sure, let's just wait until the end of E@RTC so we don't give other people ideas", I think that leading by example is the best way to go.
As for some of the kids who are overly enthusiastic and downright pushy, I really admire your patience, it's a hard line to walk so to not crush their dreams.

The problem with some people is that if you give them an inch they take a mile. Next thing you know they want to drive it around the block. I think it's awesome that people get so excited about cars, and E@RTC is a great opportunity to see so many fantastic exotics, and talk to the owners, all of whom are some of the nicest people you will ever meet, and who love to talk about their car(s) with you. Plus you are free to take pictures from any and every angle. Why on earth isn't that good enough for some people?

My thought is that once the seed has been planted, there will always be some that will be left wanting even more. With each passing week, those who come frequently become much more comfortable. So much to the point where they start to think of the owners as their "friend" and so it's their prerogative to start asking or even assuming that it's okay for them to sit in the cars, etc.
