Wanted: Porsche Appraiser in Seattle
Can someone provide me a referral for a Porsche appraiser in the Seattle area? I am fighting with my insurance company on the market assessment of my car (it was hit while parked on the road). Preferably would like someone that knows air-cooled Porsches but any Porsche specialist would be great. Thanks in advance.

Sorry to hear Jim - I presume it is repairable and they think the repair is too costly given what they think the car is worth?
I would likely call Haury's as they seem to have a very good handle on how to deal with insurance companies and maybe they would know somebody that could help OR m. Engstrom (sp?) at magic customs as he is a highly renowned Porsche body guy in the NW...
Just a thought and good luck!

Thanks, guys. My car is already at Haury's. BTW, they are amazing to work with and I highly recommend them. I've been primarily communicating with Zac and he has been very helpful and informative.
PJ, my insurance company (American Commerce through AAA) wants to total my car and because they have undervalued it and over-estimated on the damage (it is completely reparable with no structural damage according to Haury's), it triggered the threshold for totalling. This is the first time I have dealt with a potential total and am beginning to see that it is in the insurance company's interests to total cars rather than deal with repairing them. They are quick to total based not only on actual damage but on POTENTIAL and unknown damage that they claim might pop up after repairs have started. WTF? So an $8K accident could become $16K according to them just because they think so. Complete BS.
The guy that hit my car was uninsured so I am already losing out on compensation for diminished value. Complete jackass and tool. At least I was able to get all of his info and ACIC will be going after him.
Once I get the market assessment squared away, Haury's will do the cosmetic repairs and John Walker is going to do the suspension repairs. But I am going to take the opportunity and upgrade the suspension bits while I am at it. I'm still in shock that my car could get hit while legally parked on a quiet residential street. No place is safe apparently.

Peter (nize) went through a similar ordeal with his 951. He might have know someone you could use. I remember he had to go to some length documenting the modifications, condition, and rarity of his car in order to convince the insurance co. that the repair was justified.
I'll be interested to see what upgrades you wind up with... JW is notorious for hating non-stock parts.

I know Peter. Thanks for the tip. I will give him a shout. I've been using JW for years and you are right, he is grumpy about aftermarket upgrades. I'm going to install some Elephant Racing bits (hollow torsion bars, sway bars, bushings). He said he will do it, but he is not completely happy about it.

Sorry to hear about your car. Fight your insurance company, you pay them, not the other way around.
