Escort 9500ci install in 2011 Panamera Turbo

After owning the PTT for a few weeks and seeing how smooth/fast it drove, it became obvious a necessary add was going to be an Escort 9500ci system. Being quite particular with my cars, I did due diligence in selecting a shop here locally. Key factors for me were to make sure the integrity and overall beauty of the PTT were preserved.

With that, I selected Systems Unlimited (Charles Maddy) and his team for the install. Charles is equally particular and a perfectionist with his client's cars. What's important is that Charles took the time to listen to what I wanted, took time to offer suggestions and created a custom install that blew me away.

Again, I didn't want to tear up or change what is one the the finest laid out interiors of a car I've ever owned. The display and control units had to be hidden

Display Unit hidden in rear view mirror

Control unit and power button discretely hidden in ashtray

Rear laser shifter flushed into bumper

Front laser shifters tucked/mounted in grill

Thanks again to Charles and his Systems Unlimited team. It's already saved me on potential tickets

The location of the laser shifters will offer little protection to you. The rear will perform as if nothing has been installed.

In the back, they usually shoot the plates or tail lights and your shifter is no where near either one of those.

The shifters are place very low in both the front and in the rear. Most LIDAR guns beams are wider than they are tall. At 1000 ft most LIDAR guns have a beam width of 36 inches some are smaller with a beam width of 30 inches. At 500 feet the beam will be 15 to 18 inches, 250 feet the beam is 7.5 to 9 inches. That combined that the escort ZR4 is not a great laser jammer, punch throughs will happen regularly on the front. The rear will perform as it not there. The shifters are also too recessed. Don't believe me, fly me out to Seattle, dinner at Shiro's. If I get multiple readings, cost is on you, if I can't get readings, cost is on me.

The front of the Panamera is difficult to protect well, best option is a three head install. Heads above the turn signals one head by the license plate.

If ZR4s were such good laser jammers, why do both moderators of the Escort Radar forum use other laser jammers.

Trust me, if you drive over the officers threshold, you will pay much more in speeding tickets and increased insurance premiums. You are now driving with a false sense of security.

When you buy a car that cost over $150K, I expect you did your research before purchasing it. You should also research radar detectors and laser jammer before purchasing them too.

I almost purchased a 9500Ci. I figured that Escort has been around for a long time and has a great reputation for radar detectors. I reasoned that their laser shifter must also be top notch. After doing my research, I found that was not the case. I also explored and tested different installations of various laser jammers.

Do more research.

But do you have one on your car? Ever seen one work IN PERSON? My dad and I have had one on our last few cars, and it works flawlessly every time. Not really sure what your sources are, but try it out before bashing it.

I don't have them on my car, but I have friends whom had them on their cars. We had them tested by East Coast Countermeasures Testing Group. They all performed poorly compared to cars equipped with Laser Interceptors. Now we all have Laser Interceptors on our cars.

I also have the 9500Ci system in mine and I had the laser interceptor as well as Lidatek in my past cars. In comparing all of them, I've found that the 9500Ci works very well for my needs so I'm satisfied. That's all that really matters, right?

Very timely info on this thread. I've a 2012 997 GTS and looking to have a radar / laser defense system installed. Looking for a "as if it were done at the factory" install. The 9500ci looks to be a good all around system. I know, all have tradeoffs and "it depends" caveats.

Can anyone recommend a top notch install shop in Portland Oregon area?

Thanks in advance.

btw...here is a pic of my GTS.

Sent you a PM.

We do sell and install those as well. But after installing hundreds of these and receiving overwhelming positive feedback from lots of customers,(speeders), I'd have to say that this system is effective.
