What is your experience in Oregon with no front plate?
Still waiting for my license plates and am debating whether or not to put the front one on. I ran for 7 years without a front plate on my Audi TT without any issue here in Oregon. The shop owner who did my TT mods said "If you were a young guy, you'ld get pulled over every day, but not a geezer like you." (gee, one bennie for being a bit older ) ORS 803.540 does require two plates on a car so if not present it is a reason to stop a vehicle and look for other issues.
What's your real world experience been in your Porsche? I'm sure if I'm pulled over for exceeding posted limit I'll also get the citation for no front plate.
Btw....can't find anywhere what the $ fine is for no front plate so not sure how much $ is at risk.
Thank you.

I'm typically the type of guy who obeys the laws in general, the front license plate sure kills the look of the front end, but I value my time dealing with cops over the look of the car. Your Porsche already looks fabulous!!
So back to your question, I have zero experience with no-front-license-plate on the public road.
Good luck!

never owned a porsche, but lived in oregon for 6 years and didn't have plates on any of my vehicles. i have lived in 3 states in the past 10 years and all required front plates. i've never had a front plate since i turned 16. never been ticketed.

A police officer once told me that many officers typically check rear plates if coming from behind and "rarely" doublecheck fronts when they pass. On the other hand, when they pass from the front and do not see plates the first thing that "typically" comes to mind is you are probably from another state. Now, if you are parked in a parking lot, this might be a different story.

I am fairly certain if you park on the street that the meter maids can ticket no front plate... not 100% positive though... something to look into if you park on the street.
you could also go with a tow hook mounted plate (rennline and others) if you do not want to drill and are have any concern.
FWIW I do not run a front plate in WA and OR (WA plated car) and have not had an issue but it is not street driven very much.

I don't run a front plate and haven't gotten a ticket in the 997 for the last two years. The car I had before didn't have a front plate either (had that one for about three years). HOWEVER, my 997 is strictly a weekend fun car so I don't drive it that much and it doesn't get parked in downtown much either.
I have heard that meter maids will ticket you for no front plate if you are parked in downtown Portland.
I have also heard that Lake Oswego police will pull you over for no front plate.
So far I've been lucky enough to avoid both.

well....passed the first "no front plate" test
Stopped at a Starbucks this afternoon. Local LEO parked next to me while I was in having my coffee. Both were in the patrol car as I got into my car and drove away. No issue. Hope that holds. But as the disclaimer on investments goes "past performance is not a guarantee of future..."
Safe travels all.

And more importantly, a non moving violation. A small price to pay to not ruin the front of the car.

My car is registered in WA with no front plate. I have had OR plates in the past on a sports car and I was pulled over in OR, but not ticketed. I have been told if you park your car on the street downtown they will ticket you for no front plate.
I did however get a ticket for no plate in WA a few months ago. I have the LI Jammer. I was coming back from Seattle when my Jammer went off. I shut the jammr after slowing down and the state trooper pulled over anyway. When I asked if I was speeding he said "I could not tell because you were jamming me" (LOL) and then gave me a ticket for no front plate. It was $124 and I just paid it.

I run a front plate on all my cars after getting a ticket for no plate in my NSX. I hadn't run a plate for years (as many don't)... just decided it's not worth it anymore. Why give em another reason to pull you over? lol.
I use a tow hook plate that I got from Barrier on my 997.
Doesn't really bother me....

I've had 2 no front plate tickets in Oregon over the last 8 or 9 years. One was while in my M3 while moving, had it fixed by the time my court date arrived and the ticket was dropped, still a pita. The second time was summer of 2010 parked downtown with the 911, meter maid hooked me up with a $55 ticket. From what I have researched an personal experience, don't park in downtown Portland streets unless you are ready to pay.

I agree on the tow hook plate part being the best compromise as it's easy to remove and put back on when you want to without having holes drilled in your bumper cover. Like others have said I think it boils down to where you park, where you drive, and what time you're driving. Smaller towns and suburbs such as Lake O and West Linn will be more likely to ticket you for small dumb things and if you're driving late at night there's a higher chance no front plate will be used as an excuse to see if you've been drinking.
