Cell Phone Ticket

Cell Phone Ticket
So... While about to pull into the parking lot at the office I got a call from someone already inside (call was from the office number). Of course, thinking that they might have needed me to get something before stopping in, I answered the call. No clue as to why the Bluetooth in the car didn't ring, but whatever...
Pulled into the parking lot, noticed the Tahoe behind me but thought nothing of it as I pulled into my parking space. Thing suddenly blows up with the red and blues. By the time he turned his lights on I was already backed into my parking space, but whatever.
Ticket for answering my phone...
I can see the law being designed to prevent reckless driving and idiots who pay more attention to their phone than their driving, but clearly the spirit of the law was not to nab someone who answers their phone while turning into their office parking lot (going all of idle speed). Honestly I would have had more respect for ticket if he had written me up for my tint being to dark (which it actually might be)...
Lesson learned I guess, but couldn't the guy have just said; "hey don't be on your damn phone."

... but then they couldn't collect their $125, or whatever the fine is. The entire law is entirely about raising $$$$$. Have a friend in the SPD, and they acknowledge that the acccident rate for someone use a hand held phone is the same as someone on a bluetooth device; and we all just buy into the "it's for public safetly" BS.

driving and talking it'll get you a nice ticket and since you were operating a vehicle while talking there you go...and i do agree it's a bs ticket due to their revenue and stupid budgets, look around you on the freeway, everyone is doing just whatever else beside driving, a jungle of texters and talkers. Driving a car is mainly not a priority anymore, getting from a to be isn't the most important thing while driving and that's why most people don't even care what they drive as long as they can get in the car and do the opposite of driving.

But think of the children that you could have ran over!!!
Sorry, I had too.... I got one of those a year or two ago right after they passed the law. I was thinking about fighting it out of principle but it wasn't really worth my time since it isn't a moving violation. Just another revenue source for lay enforcement.
