NYC exotic overnight? hourly? parking.......
I have been to NYC with my Gallardo, and parking was absolutely the worst!!
I street park most of the time, but crazy taxi drivers + pedestrians are the main things I want to avoid. I know I have seen plenty of $300k+ car parks on the street,,, but I do care about my car probably more than them... haha
So, where the hell you guys park your car when you are in Manhattan?? (Midtown, Soho, Financial district, West/East village....mainly 50th st below, near 4,5,6,7th ave)
sometimes I stay overnight, sometimes I park for couple hours to shop...
I tried to go into one of the regular PARK garage, but my bumper was about to fell off.. (04 without front lift), and I dont trust them driving my car to pull out of the garage and burning my clutch up.....
Thanks for your input!

Well, I guess it depends on what you are afraid of most... Parking in a valet garage will mean that you avoid cabs and pedestrians but your car could easily get dinged or damaged during the process of being parked. The street is usually the safest place except for the theft factor but I think that risk is low. I have never personally seen a cab or pedestrian actually damage a car but I guess it's possible.
If you only need parking for a few hours, I would park on a cross street and not an "Avenue". If parking overnight... then I'm definitely parking in a valet garage. I don't have any recommendations on any particular garage in NYC. I think that they are all the same.
Good luck.

A friend of mine said something about being able to reserve a spot in a secure parking garage online somewhere. Dunno if I can directly link a website per forum rules but if you google "icon parking nyc" you should be able to get to the site. I'm not sure if you can drive into the spot yourself having reserved it already, but you can probably call and ask. And if you are really **** about it, you might be able to reserve the spots on each side of your car to guarantee no one else parks next to you lol, but that will get expensive quick. Hope that helps. But I agree with the other guys, street parking isn't too bad in NY if it's only for a little while. For overnight I would def park in a garage though.

I've taken the 4S (not a Gallardo, but still) to Hoboken and parked in a garage there. Mind you, it's near the "PATH" train so if you want you'll be in the city within 15 mins if you do overnight. BTW - I parked right next to a 430 Spider and a Bentley GT, so I was good.
It was only $22 overnight.

Before moving to FL I used to live in Philly and ran into the same issues with center city. I always went to a high end hotel and told them I was meeting freinds for lunch or dinner etc and tossed the valet a $20. If your in a high end car the valet will usually never question you and are happy with the tip. 9 out of 10 times my car was out front waiting for me when I got back plus the hotels love having high end cars out front. I know Philly is no NYC but still worth a shot.

I would be really careful in parking on the streets of NYC period. Especially the car you have and out of state plates. My friends car was broken in during the busy hours of afternoon and items were stolen. We couldn't even tell how it happened. Not trying to scare you but I wouldn't take chance on street parking unless I am going to a nice hotel and use their parking garage.

You are definitely right about that. They do look for out of state plates sometimes.

101 park avenue, 40th street. Just go in the garage sideways, tell them and show how low your car is, throw them some money and they will allow you to park yourself, no issues no problems and they are good people.

Try 15 West Central Pk (52nd & central pk west) - is a below ground condo parking but I've parked there for dinner and things at Columbus Circle - I believe is where a lot of high fliers live so the attendants are real familar with exotics. They also use quality car lifts for space - really well done garage...
However last time I was there was over a year ago...

427 West 42nd Street is a self-parking facility, right by the Port Authority. There is ample space between cars, it's very secure, and most importantly, YOU PARK YOUR OWN CAR.
Edited for like the 12th time because I can't get it to work.

I have parked my company car at a garage at the corner of Lex and 55th st (on 55th st going west right as you pass over Lex on the right). Granted it's my company car, but the attendant is a very nice guy and every time I come in (once a month) there are at least 2-3 new 997 Porsche Turbos, Mercs, and Bentlys parked there.
I ask specifically to not move my seat (I tip well) and he never does.
