STETTEN, Germany — Novitec, a German specialist in making exotic Italian cars go even faster, has put the wrench to the Alfa Romeo 8C Spider. The result is an increase in performance to match the car's over-the-top aesthetics.
Novitec fits a supercharger, a water-to-air intercooler, custom injectors and a reprogrammed ECU to the car's 4.7-liter V8. The result is an increase in output to 591 horsepower, with torque climbing to 434 pound-feet. Novitec says 0-60 acceleration is trimmed to less than 3.9 seconds, and top speed rises to 190 mph.
The 8C Spider also benefits from a new stainless-steel exhaust system with quad pipes, as well as an improved coil-over suspension with adjustable shocks. The company wraps high-performance Pirelli rubber over its modular wheels — 21s in front, 22s in the rear.
