I would love to someday own an fd. I think the fd is still one of the sexiest cars to ever come out of Japan.

I had an FD and I sold it and have regretted since. With a few reliable mods, the cars are very fun to drive. Things to change are the vacuum hoses to silicon, replacing the pre-cats with a downpipe, a catback exhaust and if I recall correctly, the AST tank in which the factory ones are prone to crack.
Please correct me if I am wrong.

that's pretty much bang on, but the vacuum hoses arn't necessary unless yours are old and have begun 2 crack. no point in messing with something that fuctions rite, after all, tehre's SO MANY OF THEM IN THERE :'(

I wish i could find a way to adapt the boost brick from the 1996 and up models in japan, it was a much cleaner way of routing the hoses.

having said that: does anyone here want to sell their FD? I'd be interested in buying it outright or working out some kind of deal if you want my 996.

biggest mistake mazda ever made was stopping the RX7 production and bringing out the RX8. Whoever, goes backward in performance? I love the first and last RX7's.

They made alot of other mistakes though. They lost alot of money in the US market with the warranty claims from the rx7. They should have ran production though at least until 98 or 99. Some of the best rx7's were the ones still being produced in Japan at the time.

You are not going to get any more power out of an LS1 vs a stock twin 13B with all the bolt ons & a proper tune. You can get the motor ported & pick up even more power - and the car has all the torque you need (~ 300 rwtq = 350 tq at the flywheel = plenty for a 2,700 lbs FD...in fact, more will hurt your acceleration as you will have more difficulty getting the car to hook up). Just an fyi - LS1 conversions are a major headache/major time/& yield zero benefit from what I can see when compared to a properly tuned 13B twin car. My 2 cents.

Complete and total rotory lies and bull ****. Dont spread crap casue you dont like the swap.

I'm so sick of people that are scared of the truth that they will lie through there teeth to cover up that something works better then the all mighty rotory motor.

I ask you what more could you what from a LS1 swap. Its lighter, makes more power, more relighble even gets better gas milage and produces less emissions for the people that have to meet it.

Considering I've built & ported over 1,100 12A & 13B blocks during the last 26 years as a hobby, I'm more than qualified to state fact. Please tell us of your vast rotary experience (this is going to be good ).

1) LS1 swaps are not lighter, they are about 25 - 30 lbs heavier than a 13B with a stock twin set up (assumes all emissions are maintained on both variants)
2) LS1's do not make more power than a 13B (running ~ 1 bar on stock twins & bolts is good for 400 rwhp = 460 @ the flywheel). I don't see too many N/A LS1s (which came with 330 Hp at their peak) picking up 40% Hp increase off a H&C, Intake, & an Exhaust). We won't even talk about going single on a 13B - here's Ernie Yellow R1 with a single (now putting out over 780 rwhp) & it's a DD. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZ3HTrQ-WEo&NR=1

3) RX-7s are not purchased for gas mileage. I better tell my neighbor to unload his Viper - it has worse gas mileage than an "LS1".....IMO, its a somewhat silly stance for a full blown sports car - no matter what make/powerplant.

Scared of the truth? Comical......I'm stating fact & BTW, I could care less if someone drops a V8 into an RX-7. It's metal & plastic - not some iconic golden charriot. In fact, I'm thinking of dropping an LS7 in my R1 when the turbos finally go since I can't go single in CA due to strict emission requirements.
Looks like the only one so "invested" in a V8 swap is you - especially given it appears to be linked to your LS1 swap business. I could, frankly, care less -it's a CAR - I have more important things to focus upon in life.
