You can make the Evo X faster for less money than the 08 STI.

Which one has potential to perform better? To answer that we need more info on what purpose the car is going to serve... Daily driver, weekend track car, dedicated track car, 1/4 mile car, etc.?

I prefer the Evo X over the GR STi. looks better and performs better. it's also much easier to mod, and there are more options available when modding.

The STI is so ugly it doesn't matter what kind of performance it is capable of.

maxx13: it'll be a daily driver. I'm not into making it faster than my 997tt, but it should at least be capable of chasing stock 997tt's

Josh_co : until today I see it in person, I thought the same way, but it looks much better in real than the photos.

Evo X! Hit up AMS or Buschur for some good performance ideas.

I have known of some very fast evo's. Also there are 2-3 900rwhp Evos in the country. One car out of Chicago, did the Texas Mile and clipped it at 201+mph . I think it cost as much as a new 996-997 TT to make.

But with reasonable budgets and dollar for dollar both STI and EVO are equipotent.

Mod for Mod? Evo, hands down.
That being said, at every track day I've ever been to, the STi drivers were far faster. Either way, you can't spend your way out of ugly.

You are right, but I doubt about the reliability of that hard tuned Evo's (or STI's).

I'm not into making it more than 550-600 hp. Eventually it'll be a daily drive.

Evo X all the way. Just bought one about a month ago and I love it. Drive both cars and you will see its no comparison. Evo is way ahead in terms of looks, easy moddability, and especially handling.

I like my car but the EVO is a better performer for the money, no question. I feel the STi is a better made vehicle, safer, with a bullet proof tranny but the EVO can be made to go so fast without much coin. And the ability to stuff 275's on all four corners without issue is always a nice feature.

EDIT: The new Gen of both cars can fit 285's.

I think that is a generalization.
