Lsx cym fd rx-7

Bought the car a few years ago with about 26K miles (42k kms) on it. Drove it for a couple of years with the rotary and had fun in it with the basic mods. Then decided to up the ante and drop an LS1 in it.

Took me 2 years with a friend to build it. The devil was in the details. We wanted it to look like the LS1 came in the car from the factory so there was a lot of custom fabrication.

You spelt "reliable" wrong.

I remember reading on an RX7 forum where one of the first (if not the first) guys who swapped a V8 into his FD was actually getting death threats. LMFAO! What's wrong with people? This is a car.. a pile of metal, nuts and bolts.

There are a lot of misconceptions about LS1 swapped FDs. The most prevalent one being the weight gains of the V8 when in actuality the LS1, being aluminum, weighs a bit less that the stock motor with the turbos. The LS1 also sits lower for a lower center of gravity.

I actually have lots of respect for rotary motors. This swap was just too tempting for me and do not regret it one bit.

Ye some of the rotary guys are serious die hards...to each their own man

i've seen some LS swaps into FDs that are really well built and put together, like yours. I applaud any kind of real craftsmanship.

I just so happened to be a rotary lover. The sound, the way they make power, the high redline, etc...Really i havent had any reliability issues, most reliability issues come from applying piston knowledge to a rotary, and improper tuning.

oh and i just took a look at the video of cutouts...that thing sounds MEAN!!

great job bud!!

Yup same here to be honest. I drove the car with the stock motor for 2 years with no issues at all. I had the basic upgrades including intercooler, boost controller, down pipe, exhaust etc. It never missed a beat. And as for the sound... the 3 and 4 rotor engines sound like F1 cars at WOT. Love it!
