What is Porsche thinking?
With the buzz of the V6 coming this year, I cant see how the S at 100k is really able to hold its value unless the v6 will be 70,000 and at 70k will it sell? This is all confusing why they would do such a thing..
And to top it off the v6 will have black around the window instead of chrome give me black screw the chrome

I'm with you on that one...the silloutte created with the chrome is nice, but the matte black is gives it the sporty look that it really needs.

V6 is probably geared toward the China market. Smaller engine = less consumption tax. Let's face it, they'll be the next biggest consumption country. Hopefully not too many of these V6s will pop up stateside.

These V6s are the future, if I were to buy one, it would be the v6 model. I don't want it to do anything other than carry people around in it... couldn't care less if it were a rocket or not. So V6 please!

I was wondering what they were thinking when they designed the car itself. IMO, it's about the ugliest thing they have done in decades. Chrome or no chrome, Porsche and four door cars is a bad mix!
Just saying.

as long as it sells well, (and it does already) Porsche couldn`t care less.
The V6 will sell like hot cakes imho, cause it is cheaper, wears the Porsche badge and downsizing is a huge trend anyway.

What car of theirs from the past do you find so ugly?
Just asking.
If they can put a six in it that will perform to a reasonable level I feel it will sell like hotcakes. As written above, not everyone wants to have a brutally fast people mover. I am not one of them however.

Has the V6 hurt sales of the Cayenne? Resale values? Don't think so.... Only the soccer mom who's husband has to have her in a Porsche are the only people I see driving the 6 poppers (and they are usually filthy).
I think I read the V6 Panamera will start at ~$74k and have even fewer options than the PS. Nav is going to be an option.......
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder; remember the uproar over the Cayenne...... It's ugly, a Porsche truck will never sell and the best one of all - It's not a real Porsche!

It's called price skimming, and most manufacturer or product manufacturer does it. You release your high end product first, and sell it at a premium price to buyers who are willing to pay to have the first ones. Eventually, you release a lower priced model for those who really can't afford the premium product even if they wanted to. This way, you guarantee that you maximize every opportunity within the market. i.e. Audi S5 released before A5, Panamera 'S' and Turbo before v6 models etc.

While I'll always enjoy straight-line speed, I'm interested in whether the lighter front end will improve the driving dynamics. We've all read opinions about the S (2WD) being more 'fun to drive' because of the lighter front end. You never know, a lighter Panamera with a few performance mods could potentially bring as big a smile on your face as a S/4S

i think all the V6 buyers are gonna be very happy:
sportier looks (without chrome)
fuel efficient and not slow (~6 sec. to 62mph is not too bad for a family car)
porsche badge and porsche quality

I might get slammed here, but I'm waiting to see if Porsche goes the route similar to BMW and others and moves to turbo-/super-charged, smaller displacement engines for performance improvement with better driving characteristics via weight reduction. While the sound of a V8 sounds fantastic, I have no problem driving a smaller displacement vehicle if it provides the expected level of Porsche performance.
And I still prefer the high-revving sounds of my boxer than the rumble of the V8 anyway

If you're not happy buying a Porsche (or any other brand), then you're better off buying something else anyway, right?
A 300hp Panamera is going to be just as fun (if not more) than the new 6-cyl 7-series or some of the other ''Entry-Level" luxury models. Every additional Panamera sold just makes it easier for Porsche to justify more sports car models to their new parents, which is what every true Porsche-phile wants!

Again, IMO, Porsche is diluting their name and image by adding this model. If they want to hit up the 4 door sedan market, they should have done so w/o bastardizing a regular 911. I can't imagine anyone buying this car over a 4 door BMW or MB. Again, JMO.
