Your problem is that you've forgotten just who handles our money. All the funds you refer to have been drained from any existing trust by politicians and replaced by IOUs underwritten by the US government....... that's us, since we are the only source of money that isn't manufactured by a printing press.

The moment your MANDATED social security payment is extracted out of YOUR earnings it is spent on whatever congress wants, and it has always been that way.

This is an interesting excerpt:

"The trust fund bonds are, in effect, IOUs from one branch of government — the Treasury — to another. In 2011, as the Social Security Administration cashes in a projected $45 billion in trust fund bonds to make up for a revenue shortfall, Treasury will have to borrow an additional $45 billion to redeem the bonds.
As President Obama's 2011 budget explained, "The trust fund balances are assets of the trust fund program agencies and liabilities of the Treasury, netting to zero for the Government as a whole. ... The existence of large trust fund balances, therefore, does not, by itself, increase the Government's ability to pay benefits.""

Note our President says that owing from one pocket and paying from the other results in a zero sum proposal........political gibberish unless the government prints money which is exactly what the Wiemar Republic in Germany did to erase the WWI reparations debt.........it caused massive inflation.

I would have ordered one like this if I were in my 40s or 50s. It oozes maturity instead of the all black interior that I want

No you can't. I want a multifunction wheel with paddles, and sport seats with ventilation.

They don't make the Adaptive Sport Seats with ventilation AND the MF steering wheel with paddles though, so the answer for both would be not possible, at least for now. I don't understand why they cannot make seat ventilation work with the Adaptive Sport Seats. I have that in my 2006 E55 AMG......

The Cayenne is cheaper because they make it with its sister the Touareg. So they amortize the cost better. The Panamera has no sister to do that with.

Wikipedia says that the Panamera debuted at the Shanghai Auto Show in April 2009 one month prior to production. Not so. I got to sit in one at the Amelia Island Concours D'Elegance in mid March. And I was bowled over by its interior.
Already retired and in my 60's, never in my wildest dreams could this car, with its Cognac, Cream and Olive interior, be mine.

Fast forward two plus years to last week when this more affordable Cayenne S, with lots of stretching and some marital disharmony, was delivered.

I can't comment on which is more shockingly beautiful as they are both knockouts. For me, the Cayenne's signature is it's grab bars..... and everyone entering the vehicle so far has commented on the olive handles. In all respects the handles outshine what was rightly pointed out as skimpy wood trim pieces on the dash and doors.

I would love if they offerred all panamera dash and center consoles in dark colors regardless of what interior color of chosen. I think the beige or natural interiors would be striking with a black dash and center console. That is the reason I swapped my natural interior on my turbo for a black interior - the light dash and headliner were tough for me to warm up to .

dhh: after researching interiors for countless hours, I came to think the Mercedes CL600 black/beige including black ash trim best delivers on your favorite color combo; but of course it is not a Porsche and lacks the style of the Panamera and Cayenne. Just nice to look at.

btw: Wife loves the new Cayenne S so all forgiven
