New M5 test 0-200 kph in 11.7 seconds

Hoping the reviews aren't too 'over the top', and I won't regret giving up my #1 spot...

Sweet! You've got one on order? Or is it too early?

That is really fast, when you look at the 4.2 0-100km/h! I think the M5s problem will be traction. The dealer here wont even allow test drives before summer weather. The numbers are all over the place.

Now that I look back at them, I find these figures odd.
The 0-100 time is 0.1s slower with the earlier AZ test (below).
The 0-140 time is equal 6.6s, but then the 0-180 time is allready 0.4 s faster and at 200 its 0.6s faster. I can only explain this by huge traction issues??

As I recall you were looking for the sportscar feel and thats why the GTS. This you wont get in the M5. Look what the PTTS can do on the track.

My very good friend, as well as my service advisor at my dealer, went to the introduction/unveiling of the new 991 in California last week, and he had a chance to test drive, C63, Maserati GT, Panamera TT, the new 991 Carrera among many other cars including the new M5.
From his mouth (and he is Mr. Driver at all) the M5 wobbles all over the track, he got a lot more scared driving the M5 than any other car, including the C63 which in his opinion was a bigger disappointment.
He drives a lot of nice cars including ferrari's, lambos, porsches all day long as if they were his personal cars (yes, the cars that you drop off at the dealer do get driven by other people, and sometimes they do get driven hard) and I had mentioned that I loved my previous E60 M5 and I was thinking in giving the F10 a try. He said I was going to regret it, that while the Panamera you could feel the weight compared to say the 991, it was A Lot more stable and planted than the M5.
While he is no a professional car driver coming from his experience it might be what 80% of us here will experience ourselves.
Let's see what happens when we get one in real life and really test it.

There are so many factors in determining these numbers that there is no wonder we see disparities between those that test these cars. Weather, tire wear, driver skill, air pressure, ambient conditions, tuning, blah blah blah. A tenth of a second here, two tenths there, it's just numbers on a piece of paper. The same car at the same place and time with the same driver doing back to back runs is also going to give you a different number. It's meaningless.
I just don't see these cars being cross shopped. Would someone considering a Panamera S be swayed by the far-better performing M5 which is around the same price? Sure. But someone shopping the PTT or PTTS? Different league.
These are different cars, period. Panny is more luxurious, has better every-day ride by every account I've read, has a far, far nicer interior, far better technology and at the same time is more compelling to DRIVE when you aren't driving in a straight line. Not to mention all-wheel drive. That doesn't make the M5 a bad car, far from it ... but it's just not the same thing. Mid-size vs. full size, on top of everything else.
The M5 is no doubt brilliant. And, honestly, it would be tough to justify a Panny S over it from a performance standpoint, though I'd still say the Panny S is a far nicer environment to be in. But if you are shopping for a Turbo or Turbo S and are able to spend $200k on a vehicle, are you really going to "settle" for an M5? Even if it is a tenth or two faster here or there?
I don't see it. Love the M5 ... will destroy the comparable AMG products ... would never choose one over a PTT and certainly not a PTTS.
Frankly, though it would certainly be slower than an M5, I'm willing to bet that the GTS is a far more compelling ride. Can't wait for the comparison tests.
