Low coolant warning

Got the low coolant warning lamp the other day on my 2010 Panamera 4S with 29K miles. Checked the level, it was low. I am 50 miles from a dealer, no access to Porsche approved coolant. Dealer advised adding water and keeping and eye on things. I did that, warning light has not reappeared, water and oil temps are behaving normally, car runs fine. It has been very unseasonably warm here, temps in upper 80s in a month where it often snows, have no idea if this is related. Any thoughts? Just one of those things....?

Called dealer... Plain water is good as long as its not a lot that you need... I put half a gallon or less. How much did you put?

It was much less than half a gallon that I added to get the gauge back to full. The warning light only comes on when the engine is cold, once it warms up, the light goes out because they don't want you checking the level with a warm engine. The warning light will return the next day when you start the car with the engine cold.
I drove 240 miles since adding water, levels are good, engine temps are fine, no issues. I will assume that the car just needs water and/or coolant occasionally, just like it has needed 2 quarts of oil added since I got it.

If it went away after filling up, then it's normal according to dealer.

Not paying to much attention as these cars get hawt.
