2010 Panamera Turbo - what to look for

Am seriously considering pulling the trigger this afternoon on a lightly used (12k miles) Panamera Turbo.

What should I look for when inspecting the car.
What options are must haves
Is the 2010 a good platform free of gremlins ?

Thanks for your insights. Am coming out of an 06 Cayenne Turbo S which was trouble free for the last 80,000 miles.

Couple thoughts

1. Stay away from the Yachting Blue initial built cars; they were EURO-spec with incompatible cell phone systems.

2. If it has the thermal glass, realize the radar detector will not work through the windshield.

3. Make sure you get a great set of tires with at least 5mm of tread left. It is $2500 a set to replace.

4. Demand that the car be aligned, the dealer charges about $350 for this service.

5. Demand that all the small paint defects and interior bits be repainted by a local pro. They can make the car look great!!

6. Demand they install the latest NAV program. It would cost you ~$400 to buy the upgrade. Remember the NAV SW is different than SYSTEM SW.

That is all for now. Have fun. Get a well optioned car as they add little to the cost of a used Porsche.

Good Luck, JohnnyB

What does this mean? Is it only the maps, or PCM? Can you buy a PCM upgrade? If its only the maps, Id buy a tomtom, its cheaper...

buy a paper map - cheaper yet

sounds like good advice from Johnny B - hope you enjoy your new car..

O.T. but..... when I do my big (sometimes 6000 miles +), pleasure road trips (usually alone) I not only utilize the nav system in my car but I carry along a matte display laptop (on the pax seat) and run MS Streets & Trips. it's program is SO much better than any put into cars - the display is larger and when zooming out one is able to see what's in the area. a better deal all around

just a suggestion for anyone getting out, seeing the country and wanting to know what's around them as they travel

PCM vs NAV

PCM software is seperate from NAV software. Porsche will routinely and for FREE update your PCM software just like other engine management software.

However the NAV software they charge to upgrade.

True

The dealers answer is likely accurate. The software updates are routinely applied as the vehicle is available at the dealer for other routine maintenance or repairs.

I do not track specific software availability.

My 2012 PTT system software is version 3.2. The car was delivered with 3.1 and updated in Mar. of this year by the dealer.

Other than the phone issue, is there something else that would make us avoid the launch edition. I am looking at one right now with 13K miles for about 98K. It is the one with the confort features rather than performance.
I was able to sync my iphone 5 with no problems.
