Tires, drivetrain or .....?

Hey guys, perhaps you can help out here with some ideas or maybe this you've experienced this:

Having had a 2010 Pana S (same car basically), I have the benefit of making a true comparison. As I've said in other posts, I was enthralled by everything about the 2010. It was smooth as silk in the road, tranny was seamless, and nary a single noise in the car. Flash forward to 2013 and I pick up a more fully equipped S with PDCC/air, sport plus and the sport exhaust. I've noticed ever since I picked her up that the car has a roughness when driving. My wife has also commented on the same. She's also in tune to cars like me but not nearly as picky. The fact that she recognized this just supports something wrong. There's a few issues going on here. First, tranny hesitates from slow start. Moves a little, bogs down and catches up shortly after. Not at all what I remember with the '10. I'm sure that's an easy reprogramming of the ecu/tranny my computer. More importantly, at almost all speeds the car rides with a feeling that something is caught in the axles, drivetrain or somewhere. Something like a few small rock chips floating around grinding on whatever is turning. It's felt in the gas pedal, seats and entire car. It is not very pronounced like a bad balance or grinding brakes, but it's there almost all the time. Add to this a similar roughness in the tires, I believe and it becomes quite the focus. Rebalanced twice in short time. I'm not thinking bad balance but I do think something wrong with tires. I have 7-8/33nds left so plenty of tread. At about 45-65mph, car is just even tougher. Not balance like, just a bit rough on the road. I can't put my finger on this at all. Took to dealer who had car for a week. Shop foreman took a spin with me. He did agree he heard some clanking from front end on low speed uturns or turns. I received the car back with a "can not duplicate customers concern". Found this odd! He heard and felt it too. The other thing my wife commented on the other night was "something wrong with your tires, car is swaying slightly back and forth on straightaways." I did feel this but quite minimally. I think it's more of a tram-lining. All in all, it does feel at times like something is loose with the suspension In front and at times again, I get nervous that it's just gonna collapse. Ironically, my last Pana slammed into a tree at my next door neighbors house while I was coming home. 20mph and car totaled (punctured fire wall). Pictures ALL show damage from inside of engine compartment outward, NOT the tree hitting inward. Go figure. Tie rods were also snapped! Of course Porsche NA said driver error. Cops didn't agree. So yeah, I have that on my mind as well, but with my poor explanation of what I'm feeling does this ring a bell to anyone as to what could be going on here? Unlike my usual leasing, I purchased this car and would like to hold on a whole (cars are my hobby as they are yours so I do trade a lot :-). Love car otherwise beside a few unintuitive features like Sirius navigation on screen (pain in the *** to see what's playing on each station)

Sent an email to service advisor and we will get car in again but I'd like to maybe offer some guidance here to them from others experience. Thanks for your help all!

Nothing from the experts on the forum?

Took it out this morning to try and tighten up my description of the issues I can definitely say the tires feel "rough". Over just paved roads, it should be smooth as silk as I remember but feels like I'm riding over a road with some pebbles on it. Still so t think it's a balance issue because the "thump" or wobble is not consistent. It's more if a constant harshness. Feel a similar vibration in steering wheel and pedal. And floorboard. Priced out a set if Michelin super sports but I also know Pirelli will warranty these with this much tread on them. Not sure I want to shell out $1700 for tires when I can at least retry the Pzero. Maybe they are a problematic set?

It might be that your car needs a software update. I experienced some of what you describe in my '11 4S about a year ago and took the car to the dealer where they updated my software. No problems since. Good luck!

Thanks. I just got a pcm update last week to 4.52 but don't think they touched the ecu or tranny. That said, I also noticed the car clanks and clunks in turns and braking. What is going on here!!!! Lol

I have to agree with you there...not normal. Perhaps suspension? I experienced gremlins with my PASM, which turned out to be a loose sensor. I would say that "clanking sounds" in low speed turns could either be suspension or tire related. Did you get the wheel and tire warranty?

I did not take wheel and tire warranty but can at any time. Don't think it's necessary for these issues. Car is a '13 with full warranty and should all be covered from factory warranty. I'll tell ya though, I'm extremely unhappy. There are waaaay to many clunks and clanks, roughness and even more noises in interior after they took out about 5 seperate ones last service. I'm not an alarmist but it sometimes doesn't feel all that safe to drive, at least compared to my previous one. Almost seems like the whole suspension is out of whack.
