Intro-hopefully ordering GTS
#16
This is true. I asked my dealer and 3 others about this and they all never heard of this. We just ordered a GTS today and got about 7k off sticker. Which was recorded as basically the cheapest bought GTS in the nation as recorded from truecar and edmunds so take it for what its worth.
But regardless I call BS on that post. Never heard of ANY porsche selling for 40k off sticker. Let alone a special one like a GTS.

I got behind the wheel of the Quattro GTS this afternoon. Not really comparable IMHO to The PanGTS. The Maserati is the one my wife loves. To be honest, the Maserati looks WWAAYY better in person. In pictures I was disappointed with the rear of the vehicle, but in person it is as sculpted seemingly as much as an AM Rapide. The thing also really moves. The 0-60 time is said to be 4.7, but no way... much faster. The anti-Panamera in a way. You can't even get blind spot monitoring on the Maserati. It reminds me of a Lexus LS inside. Kind of Spartan, and if you look a little too close, a little cheap. Not sure how this car would be after 10 years/100k miles.
A very boutique feel. Just 1 dealership in the state of WA. Not sure I'm ready for such a niche car.
What makes a Maserati sticker so high??? Apples to Apples, not even close to Porsche.

Porsche has 22+ variations of the 911 wheelbase, and 11 for the Panny now. 5 for the Cayenne? Porsches are common, and Maseratis are rare
You pay for the brand. Any car will do point A to point B. Its not about being better or worse.
Did I mention the phenomenal exhaust note?

May be true,.,...but in all honesty, the new Maserati GTS looks not much better in person than a Toyota Avalon...it's just completely "meh"...I'm not a fan of the aesthetics.

@super50--I hear you. The brand really hasn't been on my radar. My wife, on the other hand, gravitates toward anything Italian, choice of men excluded. I can't turn down either GTS, so it will be interesting how it turns out.

My post re Maserati was misunderstood!
I never said I got $40k off the Panamera GTS. Maybe Speedster just skimmed my post? I got $40k OFF THE MASERATI SPORT GTS.
The Maserati looks incredible in person and has a fantastic sound. I bought it to replace my 2012 base Panamera. I drove it a couple days but did not find it nearly as 'sporty' as my base Panamera. My wife on the other hand absolutely loves it and I ended up giving it to her as her daily driver. She could care less about the 523 hp and the speed. She just loves the looks and I can tell you that the car gets looks from everyone in a very positive way.
Since she took over my Maserati, I jumped back into a Panamera and ended up buying the Panamera GTS. No $40k discount on the Porsche. Paid $117.75k for a Panamera GTS with $126k sticker so less than $9k off the Panamera. For me, the Panamera GTS is worlds better daily driver than the Maserati. For my wife, just the opposite so it is all in the eyes of the individual. She never liked the looks of the Panamera. I just like the fact that I can swap out between the two cars for a change now and then.

I was in the same situation 4 months ago.
It all came down between the new Quattroporte or the Panny.
The Maserati dealer was very aggressive in trying to get me behind the wheel of the Quattroporte. They were offering me a substantially larger trade in on my 2013 BMW 650 Gran Coupe and discounts on the vehicle. Not to mention they had a well equipped Quattroporte in stock offering me immediate delivery.
Truth is...I test drove both cars on multiple occasions and I really wanted the Quattroporte for the "exotic" factor, Italian badge, the sound and the overall feeling of having something "special". I felt that the Maserati Quattroporte offered a more exclusive and luxury badge than the Porsche.
After much debate and back and forth I just couldn't convince myself to go with the Quattroporte....I felt that the Panny was a better engineered vehicle, offered a better drive, and more peace of mind with buying a brand that has a long history of top notch quality and a good reputation of reliability. Another deal breaker was the all wheel drive vs rear wheel drive situation. I live in Canada and felt that I would be better served by an all wheel drive Panny during winter months vs the rear wheel drive Quattroporte GTS which does come in all wheel drive if you opt for the V6 version.
I tried very hard to convince myself...my heart was set on acquiring a Maserati...but yet, being that I'm a "driver" I just couldn't ignore the absolute drivability of the Panamera...It IS a driver's car.
The Maserati interior didn't have the jet fighter feel of the Panamera, the back seat was more of a bench than two bucket seats with no console in the middle and the overall feel of the car was more similar to a Mercedes S class than a true sport sedan. The redesign seemed to have tamed the look of the car and give it a more conventional luxury sedan styling vs the unique look of the previous generation or the highly debated aesthetics of the Panamera.
As a result...I got less on my BMW trade in, had to wait over a month for my Panamera and was offered very little in the way of discounts....and yet...It was the right decision for me..no regrets...Love my Panamera GTS!
Either ways...you can't go wrong...You're comparing two exceptional vehicles...both the Quattroporte and Panamera ARE ultimate luxury sedans.
Good luck with your decision and keep us posted

Nwills, interested in getting your feedback on why you traded the BMW650GC. I'm in the market for a sedan (my first from a long line of coupes, currently in an Audi TT). What drove you from the GC to the GTS?
Thanks and sorry for the hijack....

I see I am not alone in the battle of the GTS. @tguerino--the Seattle Maserati dealership has an extensive inventory on their website with prices that already seem discounted from the "build it" price from manufacturer site. But the dealer prices are still too high compared to a Panamera GTS. If you don't mind divulging, what was your final number on the Maserati? TIA.

How I got discount?
How I got nearly $9k off my 2014 Black/Black Panamera GTS with a $126k MSRP:
Right place at right time?
Good negotiating skills?
All cash offer with no trade to worry about?
Repeat customer - Bought prior Panamera from same dealer 2 years earlier?
A little bit of luck?
Or a combination of all the above?
I made the deal for this car just after Thanksgiving after seeing it on dealers website. Dealer is 700 miles away. Called salesmen and within 30 minutes and 2 phone calls had the deal nailed down. They overnighted the paperwork to me - but before it arrived a family emergency arose and took me out of town for a few weeks. Before leaving town I called salesman and explained the emergency and cancelled the sale.
To my surprise, a month later, with life back to normal, I noticed the car still on dealer website. I called to buy it and was told it was sold, at full MSRP, and they were waiting for buyer to come back from an out of country trip to pick it up. Long story short, the full MSRP buyer was having difficulty getting his funds in order and 2 weeks after he was supposed to pick up the car the salesman called to tell me that if I wanted the car it was mine for our previously agreed price. I sent the paperwork back with a check and the following day the dealer had the car shipped and delivered to my home 4 states away for just $500. Awesome deal on an awesome car. I love it.
