Hard decision or No brainer.
Thinking about an upgrade in about a year or two and I really love my Pana S and would like to upgrade to a Turbo or at least a GTS but after seeing the new S Class Coupe, that decision doesnt seem so easy anymore. My goodness that is one beautiful car. Having owned an S, I also know the ride and maintenance on these high end Mercs are excellent.
With that said, I really like the Panamera Turbo but there seems to be so many issues and complaints about these cars on the forum that it might be a bad idea to get one.
So which would you pick, a used Turbo or a new or lightly used S Class Coupe?

No comparison....turbo. I have an S550 as well..love it, and a great car...but man o man, its boring to drive. Even if I "wanted" to kick it up a notch, theres nothing there if I were you, I would get a used GTS I have a '13 and love it mellow yellow when I want that, but crazy snarly when I want that bam
BTW, the s class coupe does look nice on line in pics....curious how it would drive I am a big AMG fan

Problems with Panamers?? Not as many as the crappy S550. S550 was the worst car I owned. It broke down all the time. Mercedes Forums are full of problems with S class. If they are not - it means that there isnt many Sclass owners on forums. They just take it to the dealer and fix it. But S550 was so bad I went with a BMW 7 series - almost never broke down on me. New 7 series are terrible.
From the Panamera forums - I actually dont see many problems.

I owned the 'previous generation (2011+) S-class coupe' (CL class, based similarly upon the previous-gen S-class). Electrical and engine issues galore. I was nearly run off of the benz forum for becoming so anti-benz during my ownership experience. Beautiful car but the quality left too much to be desired. Never again AMG. Nunca. Mierda.

Not a good comparison. Porsche, MB, BMW all have very different driving characteristics and personalities. That would be like comparing a Rib Eye, NY Steak and Filet Mignon. All steaks but totally different flavor and taste.
Looks: S Coupe
Performance: Porsche
Drivrs car: Porsche, BMW
Handleing Porsche, BMW
Looks again: S Coupe hands down

Personally, I would do the S Coupe just to change it up.
I've owned almost every model up and down from Porsche the last 5 years and as great as the vehicles are, I need a change... Boxster, Caymen S, Cayenne Turbo S, Cayenne GTS, Cayenne Turbo, Panamera Turbo, Panamera 4S, 997 C2S Cab...

I think the Tesla leaves a lot to desired especially in the interior. It was in serious contention for me between getting another Panamera or the Tesla but the lack of interior sophistication and limited range driving distance for me was a total killer for it.
I think it is going to come down to the Continental, S8 or any of the S AMG offerings for me on the next go around...

I think that applies to the Mercedes as well.
I was test driving a lightly used S coupe (CL?) last year and halfway through the drive, I started getting warning messages on the dash. Salesman asks me what I think, and I reply "I haven't even bought it yet and already it needs servicing!"
My E class, so far, has been rock-solid, but it's a much simpler car. I agree with the comments above that the Panamera is much more fun to drive. The new S coupe is gorgeous though, can't argue with that.
