22" vs 20" Wheels, Ride Quality Rating, Pros & Cons

Hello my fellow Panamerans! I have stock 19" wheels and they don't appeal to me as they look like donuts eating bagels with caviar. I would prefer aftermarket 5 spoke Vossens or XOs and can't decide on 20's or 22's. I'm leaning towards the 22's based on aesthetics and have never experienced the ride on them. Unfortunately, 20's aren't available on the wheel package I'm looking for so I'm asking if anyone who has experienced 22's on a Panamera can give me their true opinion on ride quality and pros/cons. I can only imagine that 22's would be a harsh/stiff/bumpy ride but ofcourse all the salespeople I've spoken to have said otherwise. Can you provide me some feedback on 20 vs 22? Thank you for your response.

There are many threads about this on here, all I will say is that 22" wheels are for looks, and if that is your goal then go for it.

Are you an NBA player?

If so, definitely 22".

Thanks BigApe. I will, I just go her 3 days ago and it's been raining. Can't wait to get her setup the way I want. I can't believe how phenomenal this GTS is... AMAZING! It's like a stretched 911.

I just switched out my 19" Turbo 2 wheels for 22" XO Milans and I love the look. The drive and feel with the Continental Extreme Contact DWS, I'd have to say is a bit of a downgrade. Not that you can legally go over 100 mph in the US but the car certainly feels different and I don't feel as comfortable pushing it as much as I did with the stock wheels. Still it is a matter of setting your priorities. Are you going for looks or performance? What makes you happy?

I've heard the conti were good for normal driving. I got the pirelli worth the money not that I've driven excess of the posted speed limit or 160 but they would do well if I had I'm running 285 fronts and 335 rears

I'm running 265s in the front and 295s in the rear. I'm sure if I would have gone a bit wider, the performance would be a bit better.

A 22 inch setup on 265/295 setup works ok for narrow setups. I've ran that setup quite a bit.

You can also run 285/30/22 and 325/25/22 or 265/35/22 and 315/25/22 on a 22x10.5 and 22x12 setups. It all depends on which tire options are available at the time.

I've got a set of 21" ADV.1 posted in the classifieds right now - in my opinion it's a good balance between better looks without sacrificing ride quality too much. In fact these 3 piece forged wheels weigh less than the stock 20" turbo II so you're not losing but actually gaining some performance. Let me know if you're interested
