Battery Tender

I found one old thread about using a "Battery Maintainer" - https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...aintainer.html

Just wondering if there are any updates and whether or not I am okay to use a Deltran brand Battery Tender on my Panamera?

Thanks in advance!

Ive used this basic CTEK

Bought in on Amazon along with and extension cable an cigarette lighter plug. It has worked great on my 911's and my new Panamera.

i use a Deltran. When away or after leaving the car unused after three days. No issues with it. Use both the Battery Tender and BT Jr. I use the lugs under the hood. I don't like shutting the door on cables, but I am sure the cig lighter would work. I have a CTEK too but use the Deltran for my Porsche Pan GTS

Thank you, I just wasn't sure about using the lugs under the hood for the tender. I appreciate the info!

If you run the cables up to your windshield, you can close to hood mostly. This way you can see that the charger is hooked up from looking out your windshield, since the tender will be right there on the glass.

To do this the lug clamps should be perpendicular to the post. Even the neutral can fit in there between the frame and the rubber trim (you will see what I mean) with the clamp perpendicular. The wire sits on rubber trim between the engine bay and the windshield wiper plastic panel. If you feel that rubber stripping, it is stiff closer to the centre but as it gets over to the side of the car, it is not backed by anything underneath and it is more flexible. Again you will see what I mean.

Your only concern is driving off by mistake with the charger still hooked up.

Ferrari have a nice setup where you can't start the engine with the charger attached. Can't believe that the Germans haven't caught onto this yet. Newer model Ferraris are coming with ports for the battery tenders on the outside of the car beside the plate. Nice.

My dad is routinely getting 8+ years out of batteries. If you only drive the car occasionally, a tender is not a choice anymore. Manufacturers don't want to tell people that they need to plus in their ICE cars. My wife still thinks I am crazy for leaving the tender on the car.

Deltran has the wires in order to hard wire them to the battery posts of standard batteries. I would like to find a way to secure the wires to the lugs on the Panamera, then run the cord to the front of the grille so it's easier to plug in.
