You might have to go up a year, but a CPO would carry a lot less risk.

CPO is way to go. Make sure you can get the warranty last till 2019 or 20, and have a full record. prefer 1 owner. good start with https://www.porsche.com/usa/approvedused/

good luck with your hunting and please let us know what you find.

FWIW I bought a 2012 4S w/ ~ 34k and a warranty about 16 months ago. Driven about 12k miles since then and it has been fine. My warranty is an aftermarket one and I did have to take it to the dealer because of the front suspension "clunk." Was fixed by a Porsche dealer and I didn't have to pay anything.

No regrets on the purchase.

Keep in mind 4yr / 40k miles is a big service interval on these cars that costs around $1,500 to address. Instead, I wound up buying the necessary tools and an iCarsoft, then DIYing the plugs, filters, and oil change.

CPO warranties are the way to go - basically covers all the major items. On the aftermarket side, you'll want to find an exclusionary warranty where they explicitly state what they WON'T cover. Everything else is fair game. Usually they'll come with a deductible.

Maintenance is never covered under warranty (even CPO).

This is a good thread for warranty coverage and prices ppl have paid: https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ice-check.html

Get a CPO Panny, P-cars aren't cheap what so ever for Parts and especially labor.

Consider also getting extended warranty. Saved my **** a bunch of times with my panny. The warranty in paid for itself within the first 2 years.
