Congrats skiracer13! Glad it all worked out for you.
After getting images back on the screen, the images were overly-saturated in magenta color and off-center.
Joyeauto thought it was a ribbon cable not installed properly.
For the umpteenth time removing and disassembling the PCM and daughtercard, I noticed one of the ribbon cable's seemed to be damaged from all the handling and squishing during installation.
Joyeauto wanted $55 for the daughterboard and new set of cables. Couldn't just get ribbon cables by themselves.
Figured out the cables were 30 and 50 pin with pitch of 0.5mm.
Ordered replacement from electronics vendor...….we'll see if I got the specs right and finally get the Joyeauto installed and working properly.

BTW: are you on Android or Apple?

 

We forgot to plug in a cable and had to re-open the PCM and I could see how the ribbon cables got folded over and pinched. We just worked very slowly and carefully but it seems those ribbons can only withstand a few install/removal cycles before they become unusable. My screen colors all look really good but I haven't played a video yet - image quality is quite high and even crisper after I installed the glass protector on the screen.

When I went to permanently install my lightning cable from the USB port this morning my system wouldn't come up and I thought I pinched a wire, but I just needed to disconnect the fuse and let the box reset itself. All is looking good again. It seems the sequence is important - start car, have phone unlocked and then plug it in. I don't use BT due to the improved audio quality of the hardwire solution (my car has Burmester stereo).

I use Apple and my system shows support for Android. Best of luck w/ your replacement ribbon cables

Question for anyone that has this installed. The CarPlay function is wireless, right? So - what happens if you have two iPhones in the car? Is it easy / simple enough to switch between my phone and my wife's phone being connected to the CarPlay?

Will it do this by default if only one of us is in the car? And if both of us are in the car, is it relatively easy or does it take a whole bunch of taps and changing settings?

Also - is the installation or usage dependent on the center console USB port? Mine is not working, hope that’s not a deal breaker.

I was able to get it done at Senor Stereo on bird road. Various other stores wouldn't mess with it . It works great ! Good luck !

I know this is an older thread... One thing I'm not sure of - how do you access the OEM menus with this system? That's still available, right? Does it disable any OEM feature?
Also, the control in the ashtray is very nice - is that custom or some sort of kit?

 

All OEM features remain available without any impact (Tuner, Jukebox, Tuner TV, DAB, Aux, Blutooth Aux, backup camera, phone, etc). OEM menus are kept untouched.
It's like having 2 Operating Systems working in parallel: one click on NAV, you're on CarPlay, a second click will bring you back to the OEM Navigation and other OEM menus.
I got mine installed 2 years ago and It's been pretty reliable so far.

 

Thanks a lot for the info, I couldn't find that anywhere - maybe I just missed it. Did you get the Navtool model? Those are out of stock now because of "the chip shortage" and I'm also looking at the joyeauto.
