DIY: “Clean” Power Supply for PIWIS Coding
#31
not holding under load
I have the same power supply and daughter board. I beleive I followed the instructions to a T but it will not maintain 14.3v as soon as I put any load to it. It drops within minutes.
Has anyone else ran into this and solved it?

Problem solved - basically poor attention to detail LOL
I also used 1/4" bolts to connect the cables, but the problem was an oversized hole in the connector. it moved on the stud and shorted against the chassis. I did have electrical tape between but it wasn't enough.
New connectors with smaller holes, replaced the resistor, problem solved! works like a champ now

Hi,
New member and a really great thread. Thanks to all that made this ! Super video as well !
I am looking to do this....but Porsche asks for 90A min for some cars. I understand this recommended module has MAX current of 62A @ 12VDC
thank you

VKB123, Thank you for the research and the write up as well. I have a 992 with the LiPo battery. Would you foresee issues with this PS and that battery? I understand the battery has some Porsche proprietary electronics built into the battery.

That I do not know. Sorry.

So if I buy that source I don't have to make any internal modifications, i.e. connect terminals to source and then to car and list, right?
I have a 2017 cayenne and I'm a bit scared to connect that type of fountain directly to the car, in case I burn a module or something happens, but if you have it without problems I'm a little calmer.
Another option I had thought of was to charge an external battery that I have at full strength and use a 5a slow charger, then the fully charged source will act as an extra lung in case it will need an excess of energy, I don't know if that is true at all. Thank you very much for your help

No you can buying it. You connect it and you can use piwis withour problem.
It's impossible broken module because you have the car battery that protect you.
