Extended Warranty
I know there have been posts about this in the past but...
I am coming to the end of my current CNA extended warranty and I'm trying to decide on whether I should spend the money on renewing it. I have 86000 miles on my 4S, I plan on keeping it for the foreseeable future so I'm grappling with whether it's financially worth it to renew it as it will cost me around $7K for a 3 year/24000 mile coverage. (my last warranty was around the same amount and I didn't get my moneys worth out of it, maybe 4K worth ) The car has been very dependable and I don't drive it that much, maybe 7000 miles/year. I know a major issue would more than eclipse the cost of the warranty but what are the chances of that? I've replaced 3 out of 4 control arms, it is a 4S so there is always the 4 wheel drive system to consider but I did have the transmission serviced at 60k miles. Opinions?

These cars are fairly reliable, and if you're not piling on the miles I would consider self-insuring it and passing on the extended warranty (especially given your personal experience). Glad you're keeping the car for the foreseeable future...

I think you should keep it, I will be renewing mine on my 2012 Turbo S. There is an offer here in Australia to pay for 2yrs and get the 3rd free from Porsche. As you said, you did use some of it up till now so I would imagine the chances are that you will use either the same or more as the car ages. I think if you can afford it then it's well worth having on cars like ours.. Hey, hopefully by buying it you DON'T have to use it!

I bought my 2014 Panamera 4S when it was 2-1/2 years old at 21 000km (13 000 miles). It was still under 4 year Porsche factory warranty but I paid $7300 (CDN) for full mechanical aftermarket coverage until 2024 (10 years) or 100 000km.
After the Porsche warranty expired, I used this A/M warranty two times for a heater control valve and an air suspension compressor. The A/M warranty paid about $2000 towards these repairs (I had to pay a deductible). I thought the warranty would never pay for itself until this week!
Just got news that I have a timing chain cover leak. Done the Porsche way, this is an ENGINE OUT repair! (Many Porsche techs tell you this can be done without pulling the engine.)
I think my warranty just paid for itself and I still have 3 years of coverage remaining! It’s also fully transferable if I decide sell.
Cam cover and timing chain cover leaks are well known on the V6 engines across the full line-up (Cayenne/Macan/Panamera). Keep this in mind if you have a V6 970.2.

I would not own a Porsche without some sort of warranty. Over the past 2 years, my Panamera required the air struts to be replaced ($10k if I could not DIY it) and within the past 2 months, it racked up another $8,500 in warranty work (engine mounts, trans mount, lower control arm bushings, trans leak, driveshaft, vac pump oil leak, valve cover oil leak) That's outside of the other maintenance items I did myself: strut metering block, brakes w/rotors, trans service, diff service, coils, plugs, air filter.
