Track Day at Watkins Glen, New York, October 8 and 9

We are getting a crew together for a two day track event at Watkins Glen Racetrack in upstate New York. For those that don't know, Watkins Glen is an amazing track. I have only had the privilege of running it on my Ducati with the superbike school but this should be a real treat with the Porsches!!!

The website for the "Glen" as they call it can be found here:

The Glen

Here are a few track related maps:

And a photo or two.............

If you are interested in joining us, please call PDA and sign up. 973.253.3900.

Their website is located here:
PDA

The track is rented for Friday the 8th, Saturday the 9th and Sunday the 10th. We will be participating on the 8th and 9th only. We will drive up on the 7th and stay overnight and leave on Sunday morning for the ride home.

More details will follow so stay tuned!!!

Michele, you may be in luck. My oldest son heard about the event & wants to go, so maybe it'll happen. BTW, what time will you be in New Hope on Saturday?

Everyone,
I contacted Thomas Sunday Auto Transporters (well respected and high quality). They can have a dedicated truck for us for this event. The truck will leave from a common location in the NJ/PA area and bring as many as 7 cars up to Watkins Glen for us. The truck will stay up there during our track time and then return the cars back to the original pick-up location.
THe cost for this is $3,600.00. The cost per/person would be as follows:
  • 7 cars = $514
  • 6 cars = $600
  • 5 cars = $720
  • 4 cars = $900

I mention this in case there is enough interest to warrant a group transport. We will need to know asap so, if you have interest (no commitment yet, just a check for interest) please say so.

We would have to drive up in a separate vehicle obviously but at least this eliminates the mileage on the cars as well as provides a safety net in case there are any track related breakdowns, etc.

k, i would go in on this if you can get the 6 cars or better and if the pickup spot is near rt80 in NJ.

its a 5.5 hr ride from my LI location to the glen. so anything past NJ rt 80 would not really be sensible fo me.

really the only reason i am in if this works is for the possibility of a breakdown. its fairly cheap insurance..

let me know.. thx..

James,
It is great to hear from you! Can you PM me your contact info, cell phone, etc.??
That location sounds fine. The biggest problem will be finding enough interested poarties to make it viable.
I posted on Rennlist to help spread the word.

I am very much looking forward to this.
