Anyone Repair Or Replace Privacy Screens
Anyone try repairing their rear window screens?
seem to be a common failure and replaced my window switch caps then noticed these guys have the gears for sale.
Will take the unit apart and right side is making a bunch of noise to go up. What could go wrong?

Color off but a cheap fix until I replace the entire unit.

But getting back to the privacy shade anyone try a rebuild?
The replacement is not that expensive but seem to fail due to these cheap plastic gear?

Well it looks like the shade motors can be repaired for $9.00 +shipping.
I ordered a new motor from Gaudin Porsche PN# 958536318013w4 Right side.
I will order the gear and rebuild the old unit for the next time unless they changed the internals.
Let the cuts and scrapes begin.
Pull the metal pin down from the shade with the door panel still on the car.<br/><br/>then remove both the plastic tube and pin or drive bar by pulling up.<br/>some clamps with plastic pads will help with the leverage and marring.
Only open the side with the motor or fat side.The side with the arm that goes up in the door is spring loaded.<br/>don't ask how I know.
Again don't open this flat side.

Instructions found on YouTube on door trim removal, This Cayenne doesn't have the motorized shades.
I had some trouble getting the regulator off the door like in the video so i removed the speaker and reached inside to get the (2) top screws.
Lower the window and manually pull the screen up. Then remove the metal drive rod.

The Install of the new drive motor took about 45 minutes to complete and replace the door panel. Also much quieter than the left side.
The new motor is inserted backwards then flip 180 degrees to bolt it down if the regulator trim panel is not removed.
I removed the 2 top glass screws to get a bit more wiggle room.
Reinstalled the top screws from inside.
The new motor was shipped fully up so the shade position in the raised position, so after installing the door panel, peel back the shade door and Insert the the rod you will feel a click.
Stretch the shade up and snap on.
The last step is to set the shade up limit
Close to retract it then raise the shade.
if it automatically closes , raise it again keep finger on switch,then hit the down switch to stop the travel when fully raised that will set the upper limit.
My old unit could not be saved!
If this was addressed when the shade started to have issues its possible that it could have been repaired, in my case the metal gear damaged drive coil sprig.and could have chipped off the plastic teeth.
Not sure if this matters in quality the old unit made in Turkey the new one is made in Romania.
The dealer said they had plenty of them in stock,and the date code on the new drive unit was 17.03.17, not sure if this is a common failure or just a fluke?

Do you have any photos of the other side of the motor, the side you're not supposed to take apart?
