My New 996TT X50 Cab!
I have owned 993 and most recently a 997TT before replacing with a Huracan. Nice to be back in a Porsche!
To me the 996 is singularly unique from all other generations. Hated on and caused so much revolt from Porsche faithful most notably for its more exotic and complex headlights with integrated signal and foglight. No good deed goes unpunished. The resistance to change was so great that the very next generation went right back to the simplistic and cheaper to produce round headlights of yore. Making the 996 literally a one-off generation.
If history repeats - this means some day 996’s will be going across auction blocks for a huge premium as the only 911 platform in 8-10 DECADES of 911s that dared to be different. In fact as we all know, values have already begun climbing.
While speculating is fun this is NOT why I added this mint 2004 911 Turbo Cab to the collection. It is an X50 with full leather and super low 22k one owner mileage. But most importantly it is awesome to drive! More engaging and raw than my old 997TT. Tubi exhaust, H&R springs and period-correct Champion RG5 wheels add just the right amount of menace. With room for the babies, open air, appreciating values (for my fiscally conservative side) and a bit contrarian; it was absolutely the perfect add for me!
Now I just need to roll the rear fenders and get some 20mm spacers out back and 10mm up front!

Nice find. I too prefer the 996 over the 997. I tried, looked at many, couldn't warm up to the 997's. Having a previous 996 C2 for almost 8 years didn't help.
Anyway, you may consider removing the front diff, cardon shaft and front axles. It can be done in a couple of hours, makes the car a RWD, 100% power going to the rear. The steering feels a lot lighter, it's like the weight of a couple of bags of rock salt was unloaded from the frunk too. Much funner to drive and it can all be put back to stock easily in a couple of hours. I've been RWD for about 4 years now and wouldn't go back, except to sell the car.
