Laguna Seca report.. Pics and HD Video UPATED 720P !
I just wanted to post a few pictures and some Video of our Laguna Seca Weekend... I met so many great people from 6speedonline at the track, including JWGT2, F1crazydriver, mikymu and many others. This really is the best Car community on the 'net....
I was astounded to see so many GT3's out there... Obviously, these guys are SERIOUS about their track days..
I had my GT2 at the track for the first time and was anxious to find out how my suspension mods had helped the Car.. I shouldn't have worried... Right out of the box, the Car was insanely good... after the first session on Sunday, I dialed in a couple of clicks more of low speed compression damping to slow down the transition of weight to the rear under acceleration and that helped the slight corner exit understeer I had been experiencing. After checking the tire pressures and temperatures, I added a pound to each of my fronts and took 2 pounds out of my rear left, which left the tires exactly right.
Having raced shifter Karts and various Cars for the last 20 years or so, including my 550HP 944 Turbo with full Cup suspension and my ZO6 with mods, I was worried that the GT2 wouldn't live up to my expectations.. WOW.. how WRONG could I have been!!
The Car is a phenom.. a rocket.. The sheer grip from the rear end on corner exit is verging on miraculous.. I can drive the Car right to the ragged edge and it's so predictable, so much is telegraphed to me through the wheel and seat of the pants that it's just a delight. I have NEVER driven a Car on the track that FIRES out of the corners as hard as this one..
The handling at the limit is VERY neutral now and I can alter the attitude of the car with either power ON or power OFF oversteer.. getting the nose to tighten is easy and I can choose either method, depending on the characteristics of the corner I am going through...
I cannot tell you how impressed I am with this Car. With a completely STOCK engine and STOCK muffler, there were only two Cars on track that were faster than I was.. One was a full-on ALMS spec Dodge Viper (that was black flagged for sound and then broke) and the other was a Lotus 2-eleven (open wheel race car, full aero, 270 HP supercharged, 1500 lbs, full slicks). Special thanks to Mikelly and iLLM3 for working with me on this supension setup.. also HUGE thanks to Rob King at SCARGO for doing the install.
The Car is also completely bulletproof, a freaking Anvil.. my temps never went above 182 degrees.. that's what it runs on the freeway, or when I'm out for a Weekend drive.
The PCCB's were phenomenal as well.. The combination of the PCCB rotors with the Porsche Motorsports Green compound PCCB specific pads was completely and utterly amazing... no fade, completely predictable, my braking points were repeatable lap after lap after lap.
Enough rambling.. here are some pics and the HD Video.

YouTube Link, sorry about the sound, it sucks because the camera was hitting the windshield and making a buzzing sound. I will add a second version with music to cover the annoying sound, but leave the original as is for those of you that want the live action sound)

Looks like sooo much fun! Well done indeed and those cars are great on the track... 2WD, no PSM... love it. I remember when Tommy had the car a few years ago... it's too bad that the dealer made him return it to stock It had software, dv's etc.. on there. Then again you'll get to play with it from stock form too, which is fun

Thanks again for the pics, vids, and write up. I have to say over the last couple months you've pretty much single handedly convinced me to hold out and get a GT2 instead of modding a normal turbo.
