Frank is the owner, head mechanic, and exotic driver. Lambo shop, but he also has plenty of time logged as an Aston Tech....I beleive formerly with Galpin. I've just had regular maintainene & mods...thank goodness, but I know he had some fun with rebuilding a V12 from a sistership thet blew a rod and he rebuilt it near Vanq spec....so he knows what he's doing. Not cheap, but you don't want super-cheap, and much better than the Dealer.
Frank's super-cool bedside manner and personal driving experience is an added plus. Been going there for 3 years.

They did my clutch job, custom cats, brake pads/rotors, pretty much the only place I trust. They specialize in Porsche race prep. Ask for Betim tell him you heard about him through Eric with the matte grey Vantage.

the point is have you seen how much they charge you per hour of labor at the dealership? i would guess around $175 - $185/hour based on how much I pay my local AM dealer.

an independent can do just as good a job, and maybe even better, for $75 - $100/hour.

Well I am new to this discussion forum so maybe a bit naive but I am always happy with the work the dealer does. I don't pay anywhere near $175 an hour so maybe I am getting a deal?
How can independents be as good as factory trained mechanics?

if you are paying between $1500 and $2500 for an intermediate to major service, then you are paying close to the dealer rates i've described. the dealer may have your call all day long, but they are not working on your all day...just a a few hours, max.

and just becuase someone is an independent doesn't mean they weren't factory trained....several former factory trained techs decide to open up their own shop because they can charge much less than the dealer and still make a profit.

Newport AM is charging $300/hr and their quote on timing cover is ridiculously high. This is an older thread so was wondering if anyone in the orange county area recently had to do the infamous timing cover to fix the oil leak through an indy shop?

It’s a bit of a drive from OC, but David Nutley down at David Nutley Automotive is top-notch. I’m a former master tech at BMW (got out of the industry because I don’t enjoy it anymore), and David’s shop is so perfectly ran, I’d consider going back just to work there. They all really know their stuff.

David Nutley is top notch. Bugatti used to fly him around the country to do work.
