Hi, anyone with experience in aftermarket electrical gadget installation on Cayenne? I am trying to install ambient lighting on my Cayenne E-Hyb 2020. I wonder if I can get power (12V) from the fuse box, like from the cigarette lighter slot. I appreciate any help, info on how to, or any tips.

There are definitely a lot of places where you can get +12v, just be aware that some are constant so if you do tap into them you risk draining your battery if you're powering accessories and forget to turn them off or disconnect them... I'd say you want to get a +12v ignition/accessory line that's powered on when the car is running so you don't risk that.. also, depending on what you are powering you may want to use a relay..

the12volt.com is a great resource for this, they have wiring diagrams, tips and more for all sorts of projects/vehicles. Start there first, the next thing you want to do is invest in a digital multimeter - you won't need anything super fancy to do the basics, but being able to test voltage/continuity is essential to being successful.

 

In a vehicle like the Cayenne, you might need to remove interior panels, so use trim removal tools to avoid damaging any clips or panels.
