Laser detector/jammer & GPS in Calif?

I am Canadian who will be in Southern California for 6 months this year (good bye snow hello warm dry roads!). Where I live it's legal to have a laser detector and jammer and mount GPS units on the window. I'm getting mixed messages about these two items, can you help?

In SoCal is it legal to have a laser jammer?
Is it legal to mount your GPS units on the front window?

Thanks,
K.

Thanks

Thanks guys.
From your info:
1.I will learn how to disable the jammers when I arrive in California but the laser/radar detector seems ok (wheew).
2. Window mounted GPS navigation units seem ok too.

Thanks.
K.

Why disable the jammers. CHP uses both radar and Lidar. Getting caught with it is an infraction assuming you only have 2 up front. Then you just pay a $114 fine and be done with it. Better than paying a speeding ticket.

Most will use both. So when the CHP points the laser at you, your detector will pick up the signal. If you have a switch on the jammers, then you can turn it off at that point. That way the cop can get a reading but only after you turned it off and slowed down.

Risky?

Thanks ezmoney888 - I've heard this recommendation before but it's good to hear it from someone in Calif.

I have an Escort 9500ci so I can easily turn the jammers off (for one minute) so I can get tagged after I slow down. Still, law enforcement officers aren't that easily fooled (are they?). If they know what to look for and look closely they can see two jammers in my front grill and one over the back license plate. Then.......?

Any other experienced opinions?

I just got a GPS unit for Christmas (Garmin Nuvi 750) and it came with a note that said it is not legal in California to attach it to the windshield with a suction cup. They recommend using a dash top mount.
