There was 4 of us this morning - Dell (GT3), Michael (911S), Martin (C4S) and me (996). It was great to catch up with Dell and the GT3. Afterward, Michael, Martin and I drove around the countryside for about 30-45 minutes - a great way to wrap up the morning get-together.

Next weekend is Parade in Charlotte. I may stop in for a bagel and coffee before hitting the road on Saturday. If I don't see you in Charlotte, I'll see you at the B&B the week after.

PM me if you'd like to travel to Parade together or if you'd like to meet up in Charlotte. My wife and 3 boys will be with me at Parade.

Safe travels, everyone!
Bob

I'm at Parade in Charlotte, and it has been amazing. Today, I'm headed to the Heritage display that the factory has put together - historic Porsches! Then, I'm headed home after 4 terrific days at Parade.

If you're in town for the 4th of July weekend, I will be at the Bean & Bagel in Apex bright and early Saturday morning. Hope to see you there!

Here are some pictures from today's events. It was great to see everyone today - thanks for coming out and driving over to Brier Creek. See you next weekend!

We had another great morning on Saturday. We had several visitors, and a new person too - Ken ('88 928). Welcome, Ken!

Also, Randy, Michael, Dell, Martin, Rich and Charles were also in attendance with their great cars.

It was great to see you all. Here are the pictures I snapped.

Hi, everyone. Just wanted to let you know that I'll be at the B&B this weekend, as usual. I would have liked to attend the Carolinas BBQ in Spartanburg, but it's been a heavy travel week at work and I have a strong desire to stay local this weekend.
Hope to see you at the Bean & Bagel on Saturday morning.

We had a great morning at B&B. Michael ('88 911), John (Boxster), Steve (993) and I met this morning for breakfast and then took a fun drive through the countryside around Jordan Lake. John said it best - "This just never gets old."

It's Wednesday, and I'm already badly in need of a bagel, a cup of coffee, and a few hours of Porsche therapy. It's been that kind of week. I'm sitting in a hotel getting ready for a meeting tomorrow wondering how I can add about 20 minutes to the route we've been driving on Saturdays after we leave the Bean & Bagel. I hope to be able to drive a new section of the route on Friday late afternoon. I'll let you all know what I come up with on Saturday morning.
FYI - I made a new friend named Helmut (Cayman S and 944). He's looking forward to meeting everyone this Saturday.
See you then!

What an awesome morning - a big thank you to everyone who attended. We may have had a group of 9 or 10 in the past, but we haven't had a drive afterward. And, I think that the drive should be the "end of the morning/start of the rest of the day" whenever time permits.

Special thanks to Helmut for introducing us to a wonderfully twisty, scenic route that's practically in our Bean & Bagel back yard. And, while all of the Porsches sounded fantastic, special thanks to Charles, Dell, Ken and Alex for such incredible exhaust notes (factory exhaust on Charles' 996 - so he said)

For those of our group who couldn't join us today, here's who was there:
Dell (996 Cab)
Rich (late 80s Targa)
Bruce (Red Cayman S)
Michael ('88 911)
Helmut (Yellow Cayman S)
Charles (996 - slightly modified)
Ken (928)
Alex (996 - soon to have new shoes)
Manil (C4S)
Bob (996)

Sadly, I won't be around (and will suffer from withdrawl) for the next 2 weekends. We're headed up north for vacation while the kids are tracked out of school. So, I'll see you when I return.

For those who do get together at the B&B, or if you head to Brier Creek for the PCA/Italians event, please post pictures. I also hope someone will be able to tell us about the swap meet on August 2nd.

Lastly, now that we have a great route for our weekend drive, I'd like to suggest that we pick one weekend day when we might finish the run at the Carolina Ale House on 15-501 and 64. Don't know if that would be a later start that ends at lunch, or maybe an afternoon run that ends at dinner. Let me know what you think.

Have a great rest of the weekend - and thanks to everyone for a great morning! Dell summed it up perfectly at the gas station when he grinned and said, "that was more fun than I've had in a while." Me too!

I nearly forgot to mention that Randy and his son stopped in briefly on the way to a golf outing. Randy's been at the B&B Porsche gathering from the beginning and it's always great to see him!

Bean & Bagel Closed, but We Press On in Cary/Apex

The Porsche owners who used to visit the Bean & Bagel should know that our Bean & Bagle Cafe meeting location has mysteriously closed overnight. What a shame. They had great bagels and coffees.

So, we're deciding between the Manhattan Bagels at Cary Pkwy and High House OR the Brueggers Bagels across the street from the now-defunct Bean & Bagel.

I'll post an update soon.

BTW, does ANYONE EVER READ THIS SECTION OF 6SPEED???

It's like being sent to solitary confinement.

I scoped out both locations and I decided on Bruegger's Bagels in Apex. Here's the reasons why:
- They're right near the original Bean & Bagel location (just on the other side of hwy 55, next door to Harris Teeter)
- There's ample parking
- We are just as close to the country roads and twisties as we were at the B&B.
- They open at 6am, so I can actually get less sleep on a Saturday morning if I so choose (I must be out of my mind)
A couple of negatives:
- We can't see our cars as easily from the windows of the Brueggers; not intolerable.
- They don't have espresso based coffees - I know that sounds ridiculous, but I love a latte
- It's quite a bit smaller than the B&B. But, there are never more than 7-8 of us, so that shouldn't be a problem unless their Saturday morning business before 10am is huge (I doubt it).
Here's the address:
760 W. Williams St. in Apex
You'll see the Wendy's and the Harris Teeter from W. Williams. Drive past Cinelli's and Bruegger's is in the corner. You'll probably see a very nicely polished black 996 with an aero kit.
See you in the morning. I'll be there as early as 7:30am. If anyone is up for a drive afterward, I'm more than ready for one!

Our first experience with the Apex Bruegger's was only mediocre. While the location wasn't bad, there were some drawbacks...
- The Bruegger's manager/owner wanted to know how long we would be there (even though the restaurant was almost entirely carry-out business and very few in-store customers)
- There were at least 3 Harris Teeter 18-wheelers cruising through that part of the parking lot at that hour of the morning.
- The coffee was only so-so; disappointing considering Green Mountain makes some incredible coffees. It just wasn't fresh.

But, we had a great drive after we left Bruegger's. Michael led Charles, Manil, John, Alex and me through the Apex countryside to our favorite scenic routes. It was a great day to be out driving a Porsche.

Here's a link to the photos.

NEXT WEEK: We'll be at the Panera in Cary - Cary Pkwy in the same mall with Stonewood and Ginza restaurants.
