Texas State Trooper pulled me over tonight...
Driving home down a backroad going the speed limit (luckily someone was in front of me)
Wouldnt you know he was a rookie... I saw the senior officer in the passenger seat pointing at me when I drove by.
Ok, no front plate..
" yes sir" 'yes sir" thank you sir"
bla bla bla .. got a warning
What is the law in texas?
I dont want to put on a front plate
What can i do?
Do I have any rights?

I actually thought they just changed the law in TX, to where a front plate was not necessary?
Regardless, its a "run without at your own risk" policy. Personally speaking I have never put a front plate on any of my cars. Its not a big deal. I've gotten a warning once, but it was because he didn't have me on anything other then suspicion and needed to give me a warning for something.

Front plates are required in Texas. I never put mine on, though - I just leave it in the car and say that I ordered a new mounting system that isn't here yet. Never got a ticket, just warnings so far (just jinxed myself I'm sure).

I've been pulled several times for it. My car came with one on the front grille, blocking airflow to intake/radiator [and making the car look like bugs bunny]. I just built a bracket myself and it suits me.
First time I got pulled for it I had a legitimate reason, it was still on the original bracket in my floorboard at my girlfriend at the time's feet. He pulled me in Montgomery County making the trip from Dallas to Houston, where I have the tools necessary to fab up the second bracket and/or attach/remove the OEM bracket.
Second time I got pulled for no plate, I actually had a front plate. I was on Westpark tollway, right lane, rush hour, going 5mph, waiting for the next exit at the beltway, and he was sitting in the triangle of white lines made from a merging on ramp, unmarked black crown vic, tossed on his lights and pulled me over. Ran up to my car and said
LEO: *panting* "I'm sorry sir, I have to give you a ticket for no front license plate."
Me: [Garbed w/ Methodist badge and in scrubs] "...did it fall...off?"
LEO: *scuffles to front of car, sees plate, returns*
LEO: "I'm sorry Dr. Mevans..."
[this is funny because my plate actually reads "mevans" and I'm not actually a physician, yet]

Great story, funny stuff!
It is nice being OK now after growing up in D/FW ... no front plates here! You should check out that bracket for Miata's that folds back into the mouth when you get up to speed.

Except when you have to renew your tags every year and pay based on the value of your car.......

I can't stand them either, Texas didn't require a plate long ago, but I guess they changed it. I got pulled over for a no front plate once, had to fix them on my bumper and get the ticket fixed. The guy who checked my plates to make sure they're fixed in right told me he gets about 10-15 people a day just for no license plate.
one week later, new front bumper= no license plate

From what I recall, they are no longer issuing front plates. If the last time you renewed/received plates you didn't get a front one, you don't have to have one. When I renewed my Lexus over the summer, they gave me new plates and I received 2.
Now how they tell who is and who isn't supposed to have them on the road, I have no clue..

Nice Vick. I was told that if you do not have a place in the front of the car for a plate...you will not get pulled over. It is the person that has a LP holder but no plate that will have the law bearing down on them.
