The receiver is either disconnected all together or the receiver has actually gone bad and needs to be replaced.

When was the unit purchased?

I'm having the exact same problem with my K40...how would the reciever become disconnected? maybe from front bumper being replaced?

I know the K40 is really the only remotely mountable unit. But is the Valentine one still the best radar detector out there? I've got a Valentine one but it must be 10 years old now, wonder if its time to upgrade!

There are plenty of threads on here and online. Each system has benefits, do some quick searches on here and many will come up. Only reason I say that is to keep this thread from turning into a K40 vs. V1 thread, and stay on topic here.

Personally I have seen many receivers get disconnected from when body work was done. I am not sure where you guys are located, but if you are near CT we can certainly help you guys out and tell you exactly what it is, we have radar testers as well so we can go over your whole system to make sure it works properly.

Hey, I am about to hack up a beautiful 996 Turbo with a K40 install. I really have no idea why my service manager set us up to become a junky K40 dealer, but back to my question. Anyone know where I could find some detailed pictures of a K40 install on a 996? I would rather do someones proven hack install rather than create my own!

I ripped out my k40 on my 996 turbo to put in a easier Valentine 1....Not to say I don't like the k40 as it is still on my other car. The k40 wasn't working so well and there were a ton of wires going everywhere, I just wanted a cleaner setup.
