Believe it or not, I was turning similar times at Road Atlanta in the Evo IX (approximately 1:35's according to Hank Cohn who was running with me in the instructor group and had a Traqmate in his track prepared 996 GT3)! I think I was a little more willing to drive it on the ragged edge compared to the GT2...which would have been a little more expensive to crash. The Evo is the BEST bang for the buck and a ton of fun...ask Al Norton, he went out with me for several laps.

Cleve,
Add some water/meth injection and you'll be running race-gas numbers all the time on pump gas...and no heatsoak.
I switched from a supercharged Z06 to an '06 STI and couldn't be happier with the performance, although I am still on the stock turbo.
The STEvos, as I call them, are really the best bangs for the buck. Amazing what these cars can do stock, and of course how well they take to mods....engine and suspension.
And think, you can run over 275s on all four corners...some are even going up to 315!!!!
Enjoy,
TomK

I just traded my stock Evo IX turbocharger for a SMC Water/Meth kit...should be a lot cheaper than running MS109 all the time. I also bought a new AMS GT35R turbo and have sent it to Forced Performance for their HTA35R upgrade.
