Aluminum lug nuts strong enough for AutoX?

I picked up Vertex' aluminum lug nuts to compliment the 15 mm adapters, but am a little concerned if they are strong enough for AutoX. I've found yes for AutoX and no for road racing so far... but looking for a little more assurance... any positive or negative experiences on the forum?

Are there chorme (steel) lug nuts out there?

I can tell you my friend has been running aluminum lug nuts for AX and DEs for years without issue.

I personally would not trust it with all the lateral load on each wheel.

I would go with the steel lug nuts for AX and DE's and save the aluminum for the street. I do not know of any chromed steel lug nuts.

I would immagine aluminum lug nuts are safe.

If you think about the dynamics of a cornering vehicle most of the load is being placed on the outside tyres and that energy is transfered to the car by the wheel hub as opposed to the lug nuts. The inside tyres are unloaded and in some extreme cases even carried in the air. Most of the force is carried by the wheel hubs in cornering.

You can always do your own testing. Do a run, pull them off and inspect for any type of deformation.
