Tie-Down options

Hey Guys. I am trying to settle this dilemma, hopefully you guys can offer some advice!

I bought an aluminum trailer to tow my car to/from the track. I have a 2005 997C2S, and can't figure out the best way to tie the car down to the trailer, especially for the rear. For the front, I've found that sliding the D-hook into the space in the jacking point (obviously crossing right to left) has been working. I'm a little worried that this might eventually bend/break that jacking point and send the straps flying! Someone tell me if I'm wrong and that will keep working.

For the rear, I have been told to use tire straps, secure both ends to a d-clip attached to tie downs. I am always hesitant to secure the car by the wheels, so if I can avoid it I'd rather. However, the rear jacking points aren't designed so that the d-hook clip will slide into that opening, so the only way I could do it would be using a J-hook, and my concern there is the J-hook wil snap, or like I mentioned for the front, this might eventually stress the jacking points themselves.

Any ideas guys??!

Thanks,

Ohan

I have been using the tire straps for a couple years with no noticeable problems...easy and secure, the back I do an X pattern.

T hook in the 4 jacking points is how they are towed to the dealer to my knowledge. I know a couple guys who tow using these points and don't have any issues.

I mounted the tie down brackets I bought from rennline.com to the front lift points and use this to secure the front of the car. I didn't want to mess up my alignment on the front. I also use wheel straps in the rear in an X pattern. So far no problem.

I was told to never x the rear straps, due to issues it can cause with alignment.

I use the front and rear bolt on hook receptors from rennline. cross both front and back and use ratchets that attach directly to the D rings ( got the adaptor from Summit Racing that allows the ratchets to attach without the 12' strap )) due to clearance problems with the ratchets in front. I have experimented quite a bit and this seems to be the best. No issue on alignment. I tighten firm, but not over kill.
