The tech inspection is really about having a safe vehicle, not having a fast or competitive one - is that what you are referring to when saying "good"?

By track day, are you referring to a PCA DE or similar event? Or are you talking about a sanctioned race?

PCA events are OK with factory seat belts but normally require the following:
- A Snell 2005 or newer helmet
- A fire extinguisher

You may want to contact the organizing PCA chapter for the specific event you will be attending, some of the requirements may be waved for a first time entrant. But I imagine that if you have a RS, you will do more than one .

Racing normally means:
- Full roll cage
- Race seats (FIA homologated/ fire retardant)
- 6-point harness
- Etc.

I have never done full blown racing but I imagine the requirements would depend on the sanctioning body.

Hope this helps,

T.

P.S.: Stand21 make nice suits... They have a Porsche factory design.

I'm fairly confident car track days are similar to motorcycle ones, let us know where you're tracking and through which organizations. Different states / organizations have different standards

Most HPDE track days with an organization like NASA only requires you to have a Snell 2005 or 2010 helmet and wear shoes (no sandals), a long sleeve cotton shirt, and cotton pants.

I noticed your from SF... I would recommend checking out organizations like NASA, track masters, Nor Cal Racing Club, Hooked on Driving, or Touring Car Racing Association. All of them offer intro HPDE driving and either self tech, or a free tech done through NASA approved mechanics.
