Here are some pics of the pistons before they were sent out for the coatings. I was asked not to disclose the domes at this time. If you look at the upper right corner of one of the pics there is a sneak peak.

what brand of pistons did you go with CP? Ross? look like a pretty custom piston due to many things.

what Compression ratio is that?

since you stated weight how much do the stockers weigh?
do you have one you can line up against these bad **** Forged works of art?

anyways looks killer dude pics like that are awesome to show off! Car ****

CP made the pistons to our specs.

The compression ratio is 9.2-1

Stock weigh 560 grams approx. Note: The stock pistons have a diameter of 100 mm while our diameter is 105.4 mm. Our pistons are larger and weigh less.

I no longer have a pic of a stock piston.

CP is a class act they make some nice product.
Looks great man that ratio should Work great

you might be surprised at how it revs with the light pistons in my atv drag bikes it's really noticable the 50 gram difference ona piston makes on how it reacts to throttle.

Is this motor being balanced with the flywheel and crank pully installed ?

Doing porting on the heads or any extrude honing ?

Love these builds get me all riled up wanting to tear a motor apart n upgrade it ;-)

I am not sure how the motor was balanced.

The ports are plenty big. The heads were flow tested and all ports were matched.

Great pics as usual. So Chad, you lowered the comperssion ratio from 9:4.1 to 9:2.1 and displacement is still 3.6L? Any reason why not increasing to 3.8L? Just curious.

Art,

Our displacement is just south of 4.4L. http://www.strawberrycreekent.com/Ca...AndStroke.html

Our motor's bore is 105.4 mm and the stroke is 82.4 mm. The stock dimension 3.6L motor has a bore of 100 mm and a stroke of 76.4 mm. A couple years back people were referring to 102 mm as a 3.8L. Then when the race rules changed they started to refer 102.7 or 102.8 mm as a true 3.8 motor. The main purpose for increasing the stroke is it brings on much more torque sooner.

The reason for lowering the CR was to utilize more boost with lower octane. It slightly affects the response, however the stroke more than makes up for this. The CR does not affect the displacement.

Art, what is the diameter of your pistons?

DUUH, I forgot since it's been a while Here is the link to my piston specs but I didn't find the exact size in the description.

Art,

Pic #3 answered the question. It appears the bore of your pistons is 102.00 mm. Assuming you have a standard stroke, which is 76.4 mm, your engine displacement is 3.7457L. The use 102 mm was the standard up to about a year go. They referred to this size as 3.8L. Then the race rules changed and to take advantage of the rules they took the bore o 102.7 or 102.8 (I don't remember). Now the 102.7 mm bore comes up with 3.797L. The 102.8 mm bore makes it a 3.804L.

I just noticed what appears to be 102.00 on the piston. The calculator did the rest. The more displacement available translates into more torque/power.

Then again, the physical dimensions of the case allow for only so much displacement.

We have recently been flow bench testing the 996tt, 996 GT2, 997tt and 997 GT2 plenums. We also test the Porsche GT3 World Cup Plenum. We have also flow tested the individual cross over pieces along with a few after market cross over pieces.

What was learned was a kind to discovering the world isn't flat. Adding larger throttle bodies and trick cross over pieces will marginally improve things, however they are not the weak link and much more can be gained. I cannot believe this is being discovered nine years later by us Porsche lovers.

In addition the four 996tt/997tt Porsche plenums are worlds apart from one another.
