KA - In Memory of my Mom (Vincee) and best friend Michael J. Maring
#3796
I went up to Scargo Racing yesterday to meet James and Rob. The last time I saw the car was over eight years ago. I was pleasantly surprised. It was on the second deck of an automated storage racking system and the car was show room clean. It was like looking at a time capsule. Rob said the car was cleaned once a month.
Well enough of that. KA will be ready for tuning in the next 45 days. The final decision was to go for track performance/quickness rather than top end/max hp so the turbo's will be smaller than the largest ones we tested. The motor is a custom built 4.3L and it will be controlled with a Motec system. It will have a modified Cup intake with a 105 mm Camero oval throttle body to facilitate response. The motor is currently assembled and we have all significant parts ready to go. We will meet clean air requirements.

teflon and 0396
I am looking forward to a very quick machine with near instantaneous response. The 105 mm oval TB will be a big help and has the properties to be extremely smooth at lower rpm's. The torque of the 4.3L will come on at a considerably lower rpm than the 3.6L's and with her cam profile she will pull extremely strong to about 7600 rpm's where the turbo's we are utilizing will optimize. Will be putting up pics of the motor build as to what we finally settled on and was incorporated in the build.
Greg, tell your mom I said hi and hope the whole family is doing well.

I'll start with the case:
It is a Porsche Spanish case which has been align bored, shuffle pinned, boat tailed, machined for 965 oilers, machined for GT1 three stage oil pump large diameter studs with proprietary holes and thread type/taper.

The rods were custom designed and built by Arrow Precision. They are extremely light compared to stock rods or other leading after market brand rods. The rods are rifle drilled and the wrist pin hole was made slightly smaller and the wrist pins were offset to obtain true centers. The rod bearing hole was also made smaller to accept the 2" oval bearing. Bottom is a rod length of slightly under 130 mm which helped with the piston/rod ratio.

The crank was made by Arrow Precision. It was an 80.4 mm which was offset ground to accept NASCAR oval bearings which resulted in 82.4 mm stroke. The crank has been knife edged.
