Radar Detectors - What Is The Best One Out There?
I am looking for a gift for my dad and want to hook him up with a good radar detector.
I currently use a passport and it does the job but I wanted to see what you guys were using.
Also if anyone is in San Diego or So Cal and knows of any good sources to hardwire one, please share also.

Depends where you drive most - the 9500 w/ GPS lets you delete false alerts if you drive the same route consistently. Valentine gives you direction arrors and handles multiple threats better. Very little difference in perf . I prefer the 9500 since I drive the same route and get no false alarms on that route - if it alarms it's the police. Valentine has way to many false alerts for me and the pacKaging is much more difficult to locate in my CaymanS. IMHO direction arrows are way overrated.

Order the V1 direct from the company.
Even on a used one, you won't save that much money if you can find them.
THE ARROWS ARE KEY!!!
That passport gps thing is cool....but without knowing WHERE the radar is coming from, doesn't help that much in my opinion.
I don't know what I would do without those arrows...
great product!!!!!!!

Valentine question. Should I bother upgrading a 1.8 POP version 1 to a POP Version 2? I live in MA so don't need the Euro alert part.
I just picked up a used one and wonder if the upgrade this round is worth it or just hold off till next round.

Passport SRX is superior to the V1 and that is backed up by my clients testimonials about the jamming/shifting feature of the SRX. I've had clients that were pulled over because the cop COULD NOT get a reading and he wanted to know what was installed in the car. No BS just real client feedback as a testimony to this radar/laser detector/jammer! There really is no comparison.

Laser jammers are cool but illegal in most states.
Ive had plenty of use with the V1 and Beltronics RX65 Pro. Both are exceptional but I would say the Beltronics was a little quicker to alert and less prone to false positives.
There was a really good and thorough review a couple years back, Beltronics took most of the top awards
