For me DSG was exactly what I needed. I already have a P-car with manual. Wife can't drive manual, and incase I need to swap cars with her, it works out pretty good. Besides last thing I want in bumper-to-bumper traffic for every morning commute is manual.

I was thinking of leasing also, but with the insane deal and "pre loved" low finance rate, I got payment not much more than that for 4 years.

Enjoy your car!

I'm hoping to pick one up as a daily after I pay my s2000 off this year. I think the r32 is a great car with lots of potential and it looks very nice as well in stock form.

Just picked up my R for $22,900 loaded with nav and ipod interface. 10560 miles on the clock, perfect condition.

I'm assuming thats USD? Plus duty, gst and freight charges? Regardless, thats a great deal!

The MK4 is much better performance/looks wise, but the MK5 would be a nice daily. It is very smooth, just with a lack of power. It may have 10+ hp more than the MK4, but it's heavier and you can feel it.

If you get a MK5, look into HPA.

Yes, its in USD, and yes 11.1% import/gst, no freight.

As for the 04' R32 being better looks/performance wise. I like the new R better in terms of looks, and if I wanted performance I wouldn't have gotten a VW, just a good daily that can handle winter and my dog.

'04 R32s can easily be picked up in the $17k range these days. I loved my '04 R32 and it was recently totaled in an accident thanks to some idiot running a stop sign and smashing into it. That car was easily my favorite in terms of cars I've ever owned.

The MkV R32 is perfect for a daily driver - It's what I drive most of the time even though I have options.
